@maxdancona,
Fascism had been stamped out. WW2 did that.

McCartyism wasn’t about what people were saying it was about political affiliation. It was a witch hunt in the true sense of the word, Arthur Miller even wrote the Crucible about it.

Not allowing hate speech is a far cry from a witch hunt.

How far do you push things. Certain extremist groups are outlawed because of terrorist activities. Are you saying certain organisations shouldn’t be outlawed. If your next door neighbour is Al Qaida but hasn’t done anything yet why should you oppose the small arsenal he’s building up in the cellar.

Sorry basement, I was forgetting you don’t have cellars.

@izzythepush,
You haven't explained how McCarthyism and hunting out communism is any different than hunting out "fascism". The arguments are the same, the justification is the same, the tactics are the same.

Yes, I am saying that no organisation should be outlawed because of it's ideology. If an organisation makes a violent act or engages in criminal activity... that is a different story.

If an Al Qaida group is promoting transgender rights and expresses hatred towards the United States because of their lack of progress.... they should be legally protected. They have every right to express their anger, outrage and hatred in spite of the fact that many Americans will feel offended or upset by them.

If the same Al Qaida group is building up an arsenal, I would say they have crossed a line. Building up an arsenal is not speech.

Maybe I misunderstood your position.

I thought that you believe that people who express "fascist" opinions online should be found and punished by the government.

Is this not your position?

@maxdancona,
Certain organisations are proscribed, membership of such organisations is illegal. Every country has its own list, obviously there’s a load of overlap most countries proscribe IS, but not all organisations are. Now we can argue the toss all day about whether or not certain groups should be proscribed, but it sounds like you have a problem with the concept of proscribed groups, and the law as it is.

Should criminals currently serving jail terms in America for membership of proscribed organisations be freed?

@maxdancona,
No it’s not.

Banning hate speech is not the same as hunting out fascism.

@izzythepush,
I am strongly opposed to the US War on Terror. It is a disaster for civil rights.

The only thing close to the "proscribed organizations" you are describing in the US are "Foreign Terrorist Organizations" (FTOs). This are mostly Muslim (Edited: I just checked and several non-muslim groups from ETA to a Japanese violent cult are on the list).

I don't believe that mere membership in an FTO will get you arrested (I am not completely sure about that, but I hope you can't). My impression is that if they want to arrest someone for being part of a Muslim group, they trump up a charge of "material support". These laws are intentionally vague as a way to cheat civil rights. I feel strongly that this is a bad thing.

I am against making it illegal to be a part of any organization. If someone is in jail solely because of their membership or association with any organization, then absolutely they should be set free.

Unlike in the UK, In America organizations are not banned simply because they have the wrong ideology.

@Real Music,
This is odd seeing how all the hate is coming from the left, yet they are censoring right wing adds.

There are some really slow learners here. But they are better than many that have stopped learning completely.

You and cj are not educators. You are consertive propagandists who don't know the difference between lies and truth.

Coldjoin and Slipshit are becoming the Laurel and Hardy of silly alt-right banter. Enjoy the show.

Is that what you think? I hope it is not as bad as the arrogant Leftist banter. But, how could it be?

To be honest.... the far left banter is pretty much the same as the far right. The far left is slightly more intelligent, but also more whiny.

Yes, we can see the results of their intelligence, when the smoke or tear gas is not in your eyes.
