@roger,
weve also basically adapted to stuff we should have much earlier on. Mask wearing , social distancing, plexiglass "Sneeze guards" in check out areas and folks wearing these nitrile gloves are pretty much the mercantile experience.

@roger,
I’m happy with serious lockdown. If we can control this new cluster, there is great gain from a little pain.

I certainly don’t want to be following the general US response, or lack thereof, in any way shape or form.

@Borat Sister,
remember what they say about us.

Out here in rural Florida life goes on as usual. Only the occasional tourist stopping for gas & snacks at the local market wearing masks. Total of four cases in the entire county this year.

Maybe farmers are immune farmerman : )

Younger son got married Saturday.

So within the course of a pandemic, he:
* moved in with the love of his life
* started the last year of his degree program
* began an internship at a psychiatric facility
* bought a car
* became an expectant father
* began moving to a larger apartment
* got married
* will defend his thesis

He seems to be handling it all well, but I'm freaking out.

@Izzie,
Hey, great to see you again! Don't be such a strangerl

Well, I unboxed it and checked out the instructions last night and they seemed straightforward. Just one control: it says 'on' 'off'. I'm sure I can handle it, but going to buy the first cup of the day. Too important to mess around with.

@roger,
Hello my darling Ship Rat

Well, you've got 50/50 chance getting it right Mr. Green

I hope you've been keeping well and life is being gentle. The world is all a bit of a kerfuffle these days. There's been a lot of sadness and a lot of madness so I keep myself occupied in the garden and have little contact with the outside world.

Keep safe and take good care of yourself.

I'll be back! Very Happy xxxxxxxx

@roger,
Well, it worked out fairly well. Filter in, coffee added per instructions, pushed the button. It came out a little stout, but I can adjust for that. Several hours later, it's still nice and hot. Kind of messy since I came home with cone shaped filters and some of the grounds got loose. Got a flat bottom package of filters and expect better tomorrow. Not sure of the best way to dispose of the grounds.

The upshot is that I learned how to cook coffee, today.

Not pushing this in any, but I can't believe I wasted so many years not using a Keurig. I think I've been using it a year and a half or more, and I'll never go back.

I was so resistent I think because I would see them in doctors waiting rooms and such, and they would always have all these flavored coffees. I'd never drink those. Bleech. Or that mildly nauseating "breakfast blend"

I found a type of coffee I like, and order it by the case, like a 2.5 months supply, from ebay or wherever I can get the best deal.

It brews that all important first cup in the time it takes for me to put drops in my eyes and fill the boys water bowl.

Since the holidays are coming, there's gonna be lots of deals going on.

@chai2,
Really. Those flavors are kind of off putting to me too. I once worked in a place that had a flavor we nicknamed 'amaretto surprise'. It was indeed a surprise.

Mine is a plain old Mr. Coffee. I figure the price will be fully amortized in less than a week, excluding the cost of buying coffee. Otherwise, about 10 days.

Oh, no. I just learned how to cook coffee and now I've got to start a garden? Enough with the new stuff for one day.

I'm just loving this thread. Thanks for starting it, Deb.

@roger,
Coffee grounds can be put in your compost.

I assume you bought compostable filters?

If you don’t compost,I guess they have to go in rubbish.
