Hmm - well, I am on hols from 8/8/05 to 21/8/05.

Just in, which may complicate things, is that my friend H is likely to be having a bilateral mastectomy at about that time.

Sad

So - I will find out Monday when the operations will happen.

Hey - how about you buggers come HERE??????????? Wine tours - restaurants - stuff.........

I would love to make it to Melbs though. Now - if only the damn fella could be winkled away from his study.............

I think you should all come here - at least the weather's better!

You want ME to go south in winter - what sort of nut do you think I am?! (don't answer that!)

I can visit Melbourne (Adelaide's just too far and too expensive) on 6/7, or 20/21 August. Current airfares are better for later dates. (may have enough FF points...need to check) The middle week I have some football nut coming to stay. Apparently some lions are playing some swans, up the road at Olympic Park. Seems a bit of an uneven battle to me. Do you think it'd be bad form for me to leave town when I have guests coming to stay?
(I see those same swans are going to Melbourne 6 August - perhaps why airfares are crap for that weekend!)

I'm going to terrorize the kiwis for a bit in October!

Would really love to see both (or either) of you whenever you can make it, margo & Deb! But bring potions, voodoo spells & multi-multi vitamins to repel the current variety of dreaded Melbourne viruses! Be warned! Laughing (Am I imagining it or am I feeling a wee bit better today! Surprised Very Happy )

Then it's hotter than you think gus - sorry this is in centigrade but it's handy way to work out the real temperature as you actually feel it rather than the air temperature in the shade.

I'm quite aware of the heat index and all that, goodfielder, but I thank you nonetheless for bringing it to my attention.

It's the WIND I hate, the wind! Shocked It makes folk a bit crazy & give me the heebie-jeebies when I have to drive my little car onto the freeway from the Bell Street on-ramp! It's up high over the freeway& my car gets blown about! Shocked In a couple of hours time I'll have to do it again!

I did the oddest thing last night.

I was chatting (by phone) to a very old friend about birthday celebration dates and such - known him 30 years and all that.

Anyhoo, he said he was feeling unwell - and - out of the blue - I started flirting with him in baby talk - asking if he wanted his wittle tummy wubbed and and such like.

We actually babbled very seductively at each other in baby talk for a while - and then did a sort of double take - like the two fellas in Planes Trains and Automobiles do, when they have to share a bed, and wake up realizing they have been engaged in foreplay with each other, mistaking each other for more usual bed partners. They do a sort of hyper-masculine thing - cleansing themselves of the embarrassment and asserting their heterosexuality! It is hilarious.

Well, we didn't do that - we did the us equivalent - by intellectualizing about the ease of baby talk, and its familiarity and its connection with comfort and such.

He said he felt a helluva lot better, though.

But added - "We'll only do this in private, won't we?"
I said - "We're doing it again??!!!"

He said: "Well, it made my head feel MUCH better."

Lol - do you guys find yourself doing weird stuff like that out of the blue?

Please say yes....

DAMMIT, Msolga and Margo - why the hell NOT Adelaide! We have been doing warm and sunny.

I'd dearly love to help out here, Deb, & say "yes", but ... but nah! I put it down to my Eastern European Catholic upbringing ... causes one to be a bit on the repressed side in these situations & all that ... Laughing

Certainly, Deb! Laughing My parents taught me well! I have been misreading what men actually mean all my life! No small achievement! Above all, take everything that's said absolutely literally! That works like a dream, I've discovered.

Finally! A woman with sense. Tell all your female friends, maybe we can save some relationships that way.

Unfortunately, as women say what they mean except when they don't, there's no such simple advice for men...

Well, I can't talk for Olga, but for me...twice the distance and more than double the airfare is why!
And Sin City is just beautiful today! Skies almost this blue. Razz

Surprised A woman with sense, GD? Moi? Surprised Gosh! Surprised That's very nice of you to say that, but ... It maybe not such a brilliant idea to take things absolutely literally, at all:
I was explaining to Deb that I wasn't much good at the subtleties, the shades of grey, flirting & related activities ... Actually, this has created a few little problems & misunderstandings here & there, over the years .... Embarrassed Someone should have given me the guide book & maybe things would have been less confusing for all concerned! Laughing

Glad to here that Sin City is ravishing today, margo ... but then, it often is, isn't it? Very Happy

Adelaide: You know I was zipping down the Western Highway today & I saw the sign: 706 miles to Adelaide !Idea Hmmm, I thought: that could be a real possibility if one could make a few breaks along the way! But then, why not just fly & be done with it, without the torture? So do you think we're ever going to meet the famous Ms Wabbit?

Of course, it's also possible from the other direction, to Melbourne.
