I don't necessarily advocate ******* the world--but I damn well don't give a **** who they approve or disapprove for US President.

You DO have the power to vote for Howard. Not so concerned about him?

Very concerned.

He follows your guy like a wee puppy, and is actually, I think, quite racist to boot.

HIM I am working actively on.

But he can only screw us.

Your guy can screw millions who had nothing to do with getting the thing in.

Trying that one again dearie?

Go fuind out the truth then come back and play.

Meanwhile, enjoy your three years.

We all have our karma.

Unlike you, most of us do not go feral and start spraying acid when the truth is mentioned.

But, you are behind the times.

Castigate for the truth, but crapola like "No balcks in Oz" make you look utterly stupid.

I have already mentioned an action you can take if you truly object to our refugee policy.

I can give you more.

Would you like me to post them?

Or just more acid?

White Australia has had an appalling 2 century history of invasion, dispossession, genocide, slavery and cruel human rights abuses of indigenous and Pacific Island peoples. Thus the 19th century saw genocide of indigenous (aboriginal) people, horrible massacres and deportations of Chinese and slavery of Pacific Islanders. In the 20th century surviving indigenous Australian people lived in dire poverty and were subject to enforced removal of tens of thousands of children from their mothers and further gross human rights abuses (they were not even counted as ordinary citizens until after 1967).

The middle 1970s saw the end of Australian participation in the Vietnam War and the repeal of the racist White Australia Policy that had excluded non-European immigrants from Australia since Federation in 1901. However after 2 decades of qualified "decency" the deeply entrenched racism of White Australia re-surfaced in the 1990s with participation in the genocidal Gulf War and the subsequent Sanctions War against Iraq. The 21st century has so far seen Australian participation in the invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan and increasingly paranoid, hard-line policies towards desperate Muslim refugees fleeing the Middle East and Central Asia. Thousands of adult refugees (and hundreds of children) have been indefinitely incarcerated behind razor wire in "detention centres" (concentration camps) variously located in remote deserts, on remote islands and in several cases in large cities.

This paranoid, racist policy of mandatory detention of refugees has been euphemistically called "border protection", has achieved overwhelming support from a profoundly conservative electorate and has secured 2 convincing electoral wins for the conservative Liberal-National coalition.

Unfortunately the extreme powers given to ordinary Police and Immigration officers combined with a conservative electorate and dishonest media has led to outrageous human rights abuses in Australia in recent years. Thousands of generally Asian and Muslim refugees and hundreds of their children have been indefinitely incarcerated behind razor wire in abusive and traumatizing concentration camps. However it now appears that as many as 200 Australian citizens or residents have been detained "unlawfully" under racist Australian laws in recent years i.e. in addition to the gross abuses of the "natural law" outlined above.

Australia is the only Western country that applies a mandatory detention policy to all asylum seekers. In 2001 over 7,000 refugees?-a quarter of them children?-had been imprisoned in Australian detention centres. Currently hundreds of refugees, including, as of this February, over 170 children, some of them born in custody, are incarcerated in prisons in outback Australia or on Manas Island and Nauru in the South Pacific. The average time children spend in these facilities is over 12 months.

Australia's High Court recently ruled that stateless immigrants denied refugee status in Australia could be held indefinitely. Early this month, one refugee, Kashmiri-born Peter Qasim, began his seventh year in detention. More than 75 percent of those detained in these hellholes are denied refugee status and forced to leave the country.

The detention centres, most of them run by Australasian Correctional Management (ACM), which is part of a multi-billion dollar US corporation, are surrounded by razor wire and electric fences and fitted with surveillance cameras. All ACM staff, including health professionals, are compelled to sign a secrecy clause preventing them from publicly commenting on conditions inside the prisons.

Journalists are barred from the facilities, as is Australia's Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission and various local child protection agencies. The Howard government has also refused to endorse the "Optional Protocol to the Convention Against Torture" and other human rights conventions because it would allow international agencies the right to access and report on the detention centres.

Conditions in the camps are so oppressive that there have been suicides, hunger strikes and riots. Protesting detainees have been sprayed with mace gas, beaten and thrown into solitary confinement. A number of asylum seekers, including children, have sewn up their lips during hunger strike protests or have slashed themselves. Many children suffer depression, bedwetting, nightmares and other psychological problems caused by their detention.

Increasingly alarmed by these measures, Clara Law decided to contact Dr Trish Kerbi, a general practitioner, who wrote a letter to a Melbourne newspaper in 2002 protesting the detention policy. Kerbi's letter explained her close relationship with the Afghan boy in Baxter Detention Centre, Port Hedland in northwest Australia, and the efforts of her husband Rob and their four children, to secure a bridging visa for Ali so that he could live at their home in regional Victoria.

As Kerbi explains in the film, she did not know the boy's name or background but began writing to him in 2001 after finding the identification number assigned to him by the Department of Immigration on the Internet. Two weeks after her first letter Ali replied, explaining that he was originally from a small Afghan village that had been attacked by the Taliban. Encouraged by his parents he fled the village and travelled to Australia seeking asylum. He had been in detention for the past seven months and lost all contact with his family.

Like I said want some ideas for DOING something, or is this just one of your episodes?

I can help you if you actually have any concern other than what you fancy to be revenge.

It will be interesting to see if you take up the offer.

Oh and there is far better and more up to date info, with better analysis, on several threads in the Australia Forum.

With a full history of events as they unfolded.

Just in case you wanted accuracy...

Funny how you call what you say the truth--yet, you call me stupid for posting facts.

The truth, when I say it, is...what are you calling it...acid?

Take a good look at yourself.

Nah, dearie.

Try reading what people say occasionally.

I called you stupid for posting **** like "There are no blacks in Oz"

That was so breathtakingly stupid it made me feel sorry for you. As well as sickeningly insulting to the Aboriginal people.

I have no problem when you post facts.

And the acid is when you have tantrums when people criticise aspects of American policy.

Go for it.

As I said when you went nutso before and tried to upset me with this stuff (I have no idea why you would think it upsetting, when we post it constantly here ourselves, but nemmind!) go for it.

I like to see this stuff broadcast internationally.

I would like to see way more international pressure on Howard. We have done all we can from within.

He went nutso whern the UN tried it was sickening.

STILL no interest in DOING something, though, I note? I wish you would...

Interesting....

You might learn something.

Hmmm, outraged by shocking racism, but has own business?

Ok.

I thought so.

Pity.

I think international pressure is a good thing for people like Howard and Vanstone.

I was kinda hoping you might be moved to organise an email campaign.

I shall know how to esteem your "outrage" in future.

You said "THere are no blacks in Australia"!

I shall ignore the rest of your stupidity, especially when I pass the bus stops full of African kids I pass every day on the way to work.....just as a starter.

Though it is hard.

They are very lively and make a lot of noisde.

Lash I think you probably have a good heart on these matters.

Why not stick to truth and actually DO something?

Why waste all the energy you do on hate and tantrums?

Must have tweaked a mighty sore spot--your name-calling has reached new highs--or lows.

I have enough to care for in my own country--I'm certainly not going to take on your problems. Hopefully, if you and your Oz folk can get your nose out of the US business for a minute, YOU can handle your own atrocities.

You may consider it acid to share with you concerns about your own country. Do you consider it acid when you discuss my countrry's shortcomings...?

Your double standard is dazzling. And your hyperbole tonight--quite a show.

You have performed the only tantrum here.

When you are able to withstand facts, here is one you should rectify forthwith: The CIAWorldfactbook is under the impression that these are Australia's demographics:

Ethnic groups:
Caucasian 92%, Asian 7%, aboriginal and other 1%

Surely you know more than they. Please ring them and tell them they're wrong.

What a rich fantasy world you've constructed for yourself. You respond to articles about a subject you obviously can't assimilate, apoplectically--and then, you stomp about transferring your anger to me...I've actually been tickled at how wildly you've reacted.

I haven't even gotten angry yet. Too amused at you.
