Well, it was just a minor error in fact on the part of Just Wonders. But considering his propensity to attempt to correct me at every opportunity, one would think that he would be man enough to admit he misspoke.

Have you ever been man enough to admit you misspoke?

Good question, but I'm still wondering why someone would constantly change usernames.

Changing usernames is obviously allowed on AK2, I just don't know why someone would deny doing so.

The "fixated" retort was also a favorite of Harper's...and Chrisee's

JW, be sure to see my reply to Chrissee/Harper .... HERE.

I think the word you're all searching for is "busted."

I don't think anyone is ever removed from the memberlist. People have had to change usernames for various reasons and their old name probably remained on the list.

Only difference is, most are probably upfront about changing names, identifying they were "formerly known as", etc.

What's the link for the memberlist? I've never seen it.

JW - the link to the memberlist was removed from public view some weeks ago. It was in the same line as the FAQ's, Search, User Groups etc.

Craven posted about it as part of a group of changes he was making to the site.

If you dont get it you dont get it, I guess.

(Arnold didnt either, interestingly enough. What kind of governor picks fights with his state's nurses, fire fighters, teachers and policemen?)

Oh. So your point is therapists/social workers are different from lawyers and website managers, nurses are different from accountants, and fire fighters are different from account managers? I can agree with that.

Don't really understand why you were making that point, but I believe it's accurate.

Yeah like I said, if you dont get it you dont get it.

Sorry, but to me there are some specific professions that deserve extra respect and admiration. Cause they're in the frontline of the most painful stuff that happens or is committed in our society. They're the ones who go out there and, for often the most limited pay, make sure the very worst things that happening in our community are dealt with.

Not just another job, not like being a management consultant or something.

But yeah, Arnold didnt get it either. Perhaps something to do with conservative views on the value of society/community/(work for) the public good.

(Margaret Thatcher: "There is no such thing as society: there are individual men and women, and there are families.")

You are referring to lawyers, right? I used to be a public defender, so I certainly relate.

Are you planning on repling to the proof of you being a liar, or just ignore it?

Here's the post in question, in case you are having trouble following THE LINK:

Sure you do. You must take us for fools. You accuse Bush of being a liar, but yet it seems to come naturally to you.

You must have forgotten when you were using the name "Harper" you revealed your full name as "Harper Nicole Anderson." And that now you are posing as "twin_peak_nikki,"' you have signed your name as "Nicole Anderson."

Don't you remember the songs you reproduced in your Songs by Harper Nicole Anderson thread when you were going by the name "Harper"?

Particularly interesting is a song Harper posted on September 19, 2004, called "1000." Here is a link to that song.

Quote:
1000

One thousand, lord, it's just a number
One thousand is just one more than 999
How long...will it take us to discover
That war is not the answer
Almost all of the time

no no no no no
no no no no no no no no no

Fifty-eight thousand one hundred and sixty-nine
Names on a wall commemorating ultimate sacrifice
How long...will it take us to discover
That war is not the answer
Almost all of the time

no no no no no
no no no no no no no no no

59, lord it's just the number
Of innocent Iraqis killed in a car bomb just today
How long, how long, how long
Will it take us to discover
That war is not the answer
That peace is always a better way

------------------------

Put my songs up on myspace.com. You can find me there if you want to hear the songs. Or PM me for the link.

Harper Nicole [Anderson]

What makes that song most interesting, is a song later posted by "twin_peaks_nikki" on October 26, 2005, called "2000". Here is the link to that song.

Quote:
1000
Lord, it's just a number
1000 is just one more than 999
But how long, how long, how long,
Will it take us to discover
That war is not the answer
Alomost all of the time
na na na na na na
na na na na na na na

58,000, lord it's just a number
Names on a wall
The ultimate sacrifice
But how long, how long, how long,
Will it take us to discover
That war is not the answer
Alomost all of the time
na na na na na na
na na na na na na na

Bridge
Mothers and fathers,
Don''t send your kids off to war
'Specially when we don't even know
What the **** it is that we're fighting for

2000
Lord, it's just a number
2000 is just one more than 1,999
But how long, how long, how long,
Will it take us to discover
That war is not the answer
Alomost all of the time
na na na na na na
na na na na na na na

For some reason you feel the need to lie to your fellow posters at this site. As woiyo said, you are transparent.

Maybe you can explain to the group what your motivation is?

I'd say it was "odd" for a social worker -- or whatever the hell you do for a living

From what I gathered so far from dlowan's posts on this board, she's a therapist who counsels abused / sexually abused minors. (?)

Now perhaps it's me, but to me that's kind of in a different category than lawyering or website managering, to just pick up on our two respective professions.

Different category in what respect?

Different as in how ER nurses are different from accountants, or how fire fighters are different from account managers, or how ghetto teachers are different from website managers.

Actually, I think there are lawyers who fit right into that "frontline" category.

I have been involved with 'em both professionally and socially for a number of decades now.

Here, the Aboriginal Legal Rights lawyers, were mega frontline for a long, long, time. They were paid **** compared with what they could get elsewhere, and they were out there, in nasty racist country towns, really fighting for legal justice.

And damn decently, too.

The legal aid people are bloody troupers, too......

Though, believe me, there was never a dull moment in that world!

The dark underbelly of lawyerdom is a sight to be seen, though, of course.

As with any group, I guess?

I certainly see therapists who make my flesh creep.

I have seen a letter from a prominent psychiatrist sent to me from one of the rich, bottom feeding lawyers with some other papers, asking the lawyer what diagnosis he wanted for his client!!!

I have lawyer friends, know lawyers, and have worked with lawyers I would trust with my children, my husband, all my worldly goods, and my reputation. In my former profession (something over a year ago) I was in court or mediation going against lawyers I wouldn't trust me to give the right time of day. But then my profession also represented some of the best and worst of humanity. In other words, you can't attach a characterization to the profession without knowing the person.

Nevertheless, be sure to add ACLU lawyers to the bottom feeders group,

Did I use the word "trope" right, there?

nimh

I think not. It looks like you want a word that means something like "misapprehension" or "myth" or "fallacy", though perhaps with the added sense that purposeful deceit is in play?

The normal use of "trope" is figure of speech or play on words.

nimh

Your question on the proper usuage of this word got me digging around a bit more because I wasn't certain my response was correct. Niggling memories suggested that I'd seen other instances of the usage you put the term to earlier.

It turns out your usage is fine, but esoteric or specialized. See Here (see "framing" as well). I don't think I'll use the term much, if at all, in that sense because it is so uncommon and won't likely be understood by very many readers. But it's good to know what is meant by the term when I do bump into it.

Thanks.

Stupid State Club
Membership in the club is not limited to Texas and Florida.

Ohio passed the initiation by rejecting referenda which might have made more it difficult for the Republicans to steal the elections.

Kansas made it into the club by redefining science so as to admit Intelligent Design into the science curriculum. Any systematic study having its basis in the supernatural is now fair game for the Kansas science curriculum.
