Africa, and I thought I knew a lot, whipped my butt.

Piffka: Look at Arkansas. All those angles and the hook helps.

Chattanooga has one of the world's best fresh water aquariums. If anybody travels in that area, I highly recommend a visit.

I think you are right Piffka, and I think you were right about Missouri too.
(whining)But my sixth grade teacher Mr. Woodbury told us the Arkansas was the only state that you could go due South into six others. Another, and perhaps the last, illusion of youth is shattered. Do you think Janice Ford is still my best friend? She promised she would be forever in 1956, but I haven't heard from her since Kennedy was elected....

Now I am going to do Africa and see how really thick I am.

Joe N, I admire your bravery; most people hate to show how ignorant we are. LOL

Joe, It takes a big man to say that his sixth grade teacher was wrong. Very Happy

I've tried China... whew! I have no idea how I received any points at all except that I had dumb luck and learned a couple of names from the test itself. Guess that shows how valuable games like this are (I'm not wasting my time, I'm educating myself.) My first score was 35 out of 93.

Second time: 96% 5 miles off, 212 seconds (48 out of 50 perfect)

See, I know that Kentucky is right under where Setanta is, so I know that one.

Colorado I should know, but there's something about it - until about 3 years ago I thought it was where Oregon is.

Kansas. <sigh> I just can't explain Kansas. Maybe if I went on a road trip to Kansas?

But why would anyone go to Kansas?

Because we have the world's largest: (a) hand dug well, (b) ball of twine, and (c) steam shovel.

Nearly 9 tons and still growing! It's in Cawker City. That's all I know.

Here's another fun game. The idea is to place the state that'll show up on the upper-left corner in the proper place on the US map. Drag it to the right place. You will get a score and how many average miles you are off. Good luck!

So - many - states!

I got 90%, Avg error 15 miles - 433 seconds.

Its all thanks to the elections <nods>

I wonder if there is one of these for the UK... or Europe. It would be fun to try and (after a few tries) we'd probably know a lot more about geography.

I know I know I know there is one!

I was just playing it earlier this week! Exact same game. One of my colleagues emailed it around. We all did it - like high school kids excitedly exchanging scores, heh. (No, we're not funded by the government, so thats OK)

I actually wanted to make a thread here to link to it! But I forgot. Lemme go get the URL.

Somehow that ball of twine is not selling me on Kansas.
As much as I like rope and string ...

Nope.

Kansas is going to have to do without me for a while longer.

Nah cant look it up - I sent the URL around from my work email (but not to my own personal addie).

It was fun. I got all of em right except Monaco. Then I did it again and got all of em right except Malta. It was good to finally be able to excel at something Mr. Green

Ill come back later to bring it. Of course youve all already had training with the other test, so you got an unfair advantage now ... ;-)
