Not at all. They all strive to tie.

What makes you think the Tar Heel basketball team are Leftists?

Thankfully, capitalism drives even weak kneed bastions of Leftism like UNC.

College basketball is big business, and particularly so in North Carolina.

I wonder how the committed Leftists at UNC feel about the university exploiting young African Americans who, in the main, would never have been accepted to UNC unless they could play hoops.

I was responding to an earlier post and attempting to be ironic. Guess it didn't work...

Guess not, but then attempts at being ironic are fraught with peril.

Oh no! and my daughter is enrolled! Do you think I should report her to the FBI?

UNC is like every other college....drunk.

You, no doubt attend NC State.....the hated Wolfpack.....and are getting first hand experience at everything except ethical, responsible behavior.

Sounds like my daughter is going to fit right in....she understands that her ethics and her decisions about her behavior have to come from her. She doesn't have to look to any authority to tell her how to think. She is a fine person and student and she knows how to have fun. She should enjoy it while she has it.

I feel certain your daughter will enjoy her college years and balance a great fun time with wise decisions and turn out to be a gracious but not stuffy, delightful and well rounded person....like her mother.

The LEFT has been shaping and revising the news since WW11 and it's only fair that the public takes it back because instead of presenting the facts, the liberal media wanted to "brainwash" the public. In the final analysis the "PUBLIC" will determine the winner of this struggle but the election of 2004 gives a good indication of the trend.........down with liberal elitism, multiculturalism, and pandering to every voiciferous minority group.

Have a nice day Laughing

Um, if Public Televison has been in the hands of brainwashing liberals since WWII, How did Reagan, Bush and Bush Jr. win election? Rolling Eyes

Starting with 1945, Republicans have held the White House 32 years of the past 60 years, to the Democrats 28 years. At the end of Bush's second term, Republicans will have held the White House 36 out of 64 years.

What a ridiculous argument to put forth that the Left is brainwashing anyone through public broadcasting, and therefore it has to be done away with!

Who said anything about "doing away with PBS" ? I like it and listen to NPR when ever I'm driving, especially the "Connection" hosted by Dick Gordon. All we want is more factual reporting and less 'leftist brain washing influence" in content which is provided by carefully selected "experts from the left" with no equal time from the right. Have a nice day Laughing

Rayban - Read yesterday that the funding is actually being cut. There won't be any NPR or PBS after the money runs out in 2006 if Tomlinson gets his way. Thought that had already been mentioned here.

To quote the new President of a SW American university, appointed in the early 50s...

"I want to make this a university the football team can be proud of."

Of course, there is no football in Canada. especially now since December when Gays were allowed to marry legally. The new sport is "fisting" and it is rumored that there will be a "fisting" olympics held somewhere in Vancouver.

I just like to see well-reasoned, balanced thoughtful arguments saved for posterity. I think that the children of parents of all political stripe can learn from Chic's words here.

Here's Rayban, playing fast and loose with the facts yet again. [I've gotta get that quote of Kuvasz's; it could be the reply to anything Rayban posts]

In actual fact, Rayban the tangent man, [have you looked it up yet to find out the meaning?] the only "carefully selected experts" at PBS have been those that were chosen to create two pointedly conservative shows.

Rayban [I don't like those facts, so out they go] the tangent man has also studiously ignored the polling done that shows the large majority of PBS viewers [78%] do NOT believe that PBS has a liberal bias.

Rayban [I don't like those facts, so out they go] the tangent man has also studiously ignored the fact that K Tomlinson has stated that he was compelled to action to right this non-existent liberal bias by a right winger who threatened to pull his funding unless right wing views were trumpeted at PBS.

Throughout this entire thread, Rayban [I don't like those facts, so out they go] the tangent man has obfuscated or gone tangential, or accused others [with zero justification] of avoiding the issue(s).

This was so abundantly apparent that Freeduck remarked something to the effect that he/she had never seen anyone contort themselves so in order to avoid an argument.

I'm not completely sure which is the bigger joke Rayban, "carefully selected" or you.

Good of you to resurface today.........you are always good for a laugh or two.

Let's start with this one:

Gee.....that description fit Blatham to a tee after he avoided every fact/ point that I presented

You can be assured that ....... IF.......you ever get it together enough to present a fact, I will address it.

Have a nice day...... Laughing

Welcome back Mr. Mountie.........will you stop and visit a spell? I suspect you've been lurking and biting your tongue Cool

I must mention a one hour segment of the "the connection" that I listened to today hosted by Dick Gordon...........it is of course NPR. Dick framed the supposed debate by asking whether there should be a time table for the withdrawal of American troops from Iraq. The primary guest was one of the sponsors the recent bill on the same subject with republican Jones. He had as his other "expert" a professor from the Political Science dept of UNC Chapel Hill (UNC is a hotbed of liberal insanity controlled completely by the Left). Both his guests made a play at being objective but both were in favor of a timetable as were all his callers with the exception of one who made a very good argument by saying that the program was framed in the wrong way and gave his reasons. He was abruptly cut off off for other callers even after the Congressional rep said he was correct. This is the sort of "objective" NPR bias that we object to and there was no evidence that Tomlinsons words or guidance had any effect on this program. Gordon was fairly panting with joy that he was leading all callers by the nose to agree that there should be a timetable even if it sends the wrong message to the terrorists.

This program is typical of NPR in that Gordon and his producers are Anti Bush, Anti war, pro multiculturalist and pro liberal even though they know they are under fire for being so.

I'm going to become a right-winger so that I can enjoy intellectual programming like The Bachelor and Fear Factor and only watch news about young white women in distress.

Great news Rayban, the tangent man. When push comes to shove, sanity reigns. This illustrates how important it is to maintain a constant vigilance against creeping ignorance.

I wish whoever was behind the JTT and Atkins personas would just use one of them. They're identical. One wastes enough space.
