There's a bird or two this morning 7:27am, but the sun is too bright to see who's who. Back in a half hour.
The boys are still there, or back or whatever.....
It's 9:30 here, and all four boys are there (one just flew in) along with a parent.
They won't be around much longer. <sigh>
Obviously they are teenagers and treating the aerie as a hotel.
From what I've read the fact that all four birds have returned from the maiden flight is very unusual.
Bob, Dennis, Jasper and Pat are sitting on the ledge. Mom's perched on the pole above them.
P: Uh, Jasper?
J: Yeah, Pat?
P: Uh, you wanna go first?
J: Um, no, you go ahead.
P: Well, first I think I'll stretch my wings. <stretches> And maybe flap just a little bit. <flaps wings>
Mom: GET ON WITH IT!
P: Uh...I don't know about this.
J: <looks over edge> It's a looong way down there, Pat. <shivers>
B: Hey guys, watch this! <flys off ledge, does two back somersaults and a half flip>
D: What a show off! <flaps wings and takes off tentatively>
J: Uh, Pat, did you just see what Bob did?
P: No, I was afraid to look.
J: D-D-Dennis just jumped, too.
Mom: WILL YOU TWO GET OUT THERE?!
B: Ha! I'm back! Nothin' to it! See?!
P: (to Jasper) Just ignore him.
J: I'm just gonna stand reeeeeeal still back here, quiet-like, and maybe Mom won't notice me.
D: Whew! I did it again! I made it!
B: Look at me! I bet I can make it all the way across the river and back without stopping! Come on, Dennis, I'll race ya! <jumps off again and soars>
D: Later, dude...I need a rest.
Mom: I SEE YOU TWO LAZYBONES! GET TO FLAPPING...NOW!!!
P: <stretching and flapping> You wanna go first, Jasper?
J: Is that a piece of leftover pigeon over there?
P: Where?
J: Back there in the corner under the roof.
Mom: GET BACK OUT THERE RIGHT NOW!
J: Okay, okay! <aside, to Pat> But she can't make me fly.

Thank you!
This was on a separate thread, I hope Falcon Friend sees it here.
The ledge goes under the camera for about another ten feet. The slatted boards go down about six feet into a kind of well. You could see the chicks sliding up and down the slats on Saturday for awhile, finding out they could lift themselves with their wings.

Oh, falcon friend had already found this. Don't mind me...
I'm betting it's sometime today or tomorrow. The weather is going to be beautiful, highs in the 80's and not a lot of wind which is very good for new flyers.
I don't think there are any people especially assigned to watch out for these guys and whoever runs the site doesn't really stay on top of the news. (The last post is about when they got banded.)
Cross your fingers.

Four Boys on the edge...
Thank you, Joe, for the information about the ledge. The ever-shifting camera angles and busy eyasses had made it difficult to figure out.
I just looked for the first time -- nobody there, nada. Is that a good thing?
lunch is being served RIGHT NOW!
About four thirty pm a huge thunderstorm blew throught the city. There are now but three fledglings on the ledge, but the other one may be lurking down in the pit or just out of camera range.
See your tomorrow.
I checked in at about 4 o'clock NYC time, and there were three there then, too, along with a parent. I thought the sky looked awfully gray. Hope nothing has happened to #4.
Flight School Sessions in Progress
No sign of bird # four, who knows which one is which, going to be a beautiful day for flying.

There are four birds there now, but one of them may be a parent. It's hard to tell.

And ever more may be it so."
It appears that one boy has left. The three others and Mama are there now. She just brought them something to eat.
oooooooooooh, i love when it's eat dead birds time!
