@Joeblow,
living on the boat. Many places are still not fully open and some islands require self quarantining.

Its ok, we go to shore, walk a town, get take-out coffee and croissants or muffins, shop groceries head back to the boat and spend the day either at a secluded cove or island and head out in mid day. We saw all the whales out in the Gulf STream. Think we may have an early winter cause the buggers are starting to move out of Fundy, Passamaquoddy, and Sable

@farmerman,
Home again. Water maker crapped out the last 3 days so wed been washing by jumping ovrboard in the Gulf Stream. Hadda keep an eye out for sail boats and cats.

diesel cost me about 2200 bucks, and We used about 3- 30 gal tanks of propane. (It aint a free world)

Next time we want to lease a gas e-hybrid. (We will have to get certified in my offshore cert). I think we will do it again in Sept and try to go to the Erie Canal/great lakes and back via the ST Larry and around Gaspe. Thats only if we can get a hybrid and we can get certified quickly(And assuming Canadia will go along with it and trust us).
Im gonna go down to Fleming Yatchs in del and see wht they can advise.(assuming I dont have to quarantine

...and sharks. Reports have indicated they've been hanging out off of Jersey and the south side of Long Island.

@Sturgis,
We used to track "Mary Lee" a great white who was tagged and set-up with a satellitte tracking gizmo. There was a web site "Ocearch dot org" (something like that) She would go in and out of the Chesapeake and then Delaware Bays (along the NJ side) and then up the coast and into the tidewaters along Barnegat and farther North. Apparently the Bull Sharks ganged up on her and she was chased out of Dodge.
We hvent herd from Mary Lee in three years. Now theyve got a pille of whites and tiger sharks (no bull harks I think people give more social distance to bull sharks than to most others).

We only saw whales, no sharks. I think the sharks, as you say, are closer "in"

@farmerman,
I’m about two hours NE from Silverton. at 8000 ft. In foothills of the SanJuan range.
Got a little careless and turned the side by side ATV over last week. Couldn’t right it by my self and too far out to walk out. First time I’ve had occasion to call 911. They seemed so happy to bale the old codger out.

@Leadfoot,
Silverton is is the foothills? I know it's down in a hole, but I've been there, and it looks like mountains to me.

I'm from Farmington, NM, by the way.

@roger,
I used to work around Littleton at a coupla prospects. The town , as I recall, would be great for skateboarding, main treet is kida a hillside and is all touristy. We had trailers an we drilled a well for BLM use so we only came to town foor beer and burgers. Ive got a hole collection of old mine works and tips and crushers and sorters and a few cyanide piles. all within 20 mile radii.

neat country, used to hunt amazonite on weekends

@farmerman,
Been there three times. The first time with dys (Bob), who didn't like it but showed me the Red Mountains. So I did a more sightseeing on my own a few later - and with the experiences of that I showed all that to the missus a bit later. (The missus especially liked the lunch in the last brothel to operate in Silverton, but only because some really nice folks on our table.)

@roger,
Never been to Silverton, had to look it up on the map. I’m on the other side of the San Juan range from it. Salida is the closest thing to a town to me. Used to visit a friend in Taos, but he died on me.

It’s a BIG two place side by side ATV, 14” wheels I think. Guess I should have taken one of my single plAce machines instead. I could have turned it over by myself and been on my way.
I was more pissed that I had forgotten to take my pistol. If I hadn’t been able to climb a hill and get a cell connection I’d a died of thirst. Don’t mind dying when the time comes but dehydration is a sucky way to go.

You're way up north-west of the state. I was stationed at Roswell, Walker AFB, in the late 1950's. Our little theater group in Roswell sponsored the Miss New Mexico Pageant when I was there.

@cicerone imposter,
well, gonna be taking anothers boat (a water displacement hull, which is a kind of spiffed up "ocean going canal boat") and going back up to Eastport with two other couples. Weve all been in our "bubble" since our last trip and we are looking fwd to this. verybody is a good sailor and Im licensed soooo , ANYWAY Its getting really kinda toxic around here so getting back into natures realm is what me and Ms F want to do. Ill be able to periodically check in, all these boats are hot-spotted via sat nav and if you guys know the reln of how fast a water displacement hull can go( Walter can do the math better than I but its a 55 ft kind of commuter boat outfitted for blue water and I doubt we will be able to do more than 9k). (SQ root of length of wetted surfce(ft) X 1.34) = max velocity
We hope to o some more whale watching as these lugs get set to continue south. Last trip we had a bunch of Minke whales standing upright in the water and they followed us almost like we were a posse.

Adios for a week or two (no plans or schedules ) We got a really good rate for the boat and its a rather thrifty albeit slow boat . Burns probably about 2 gal/hr / engine for 4 gal/hr. Diesel will be a few thousand bucks and food and moorings and an emergencies. What the hell, nobody gets out alive.

We leave on Fri . One of the amigos is thinking of doing a vlog. (I hate them because most of em are so mindless and narcissistic , but its their vlog.

We may make it to Sable Island if weather holds and winter doesnt creep in . (Although Iwouldnt mind, at let the damn boatl top 9 k)
