bvt - a brilliant extension of a scatalogical metaphor. The roses will grow well
(I was staying out of that, osso. Can of worms.)
Perhaps, since we're wondering, Jane wasn't arrested or charged with anything back then simply because her last name was Fonda? Now, if her last name had been Ali...

Anything worth doing is worth doing well. Thank you. I wanted to go even further but sensed it was about to poop out.
osso and msolga surely you were sensing my sarcasm, right?
Yes, definitely. I almost typed that, but I figured you'd sense it.
My take on Jane Fonda...? I was born in 1968. I don't have first hand knowledge, really, of any Vietnam Nam coverage. I was just too young. I did like JF for her acting and then her arobics tapes <hey, it was the 80s!>. But as this topic of Hanoi comes up again and again, I feel more and more unfriendly towards her (the Ted Turner thing doesn't help).
I was horrified that she gave the captors the notes the POW had given her. What was she thinking? The posing with the anti-aircraft guns was pretty over the top in my eyes. I certainly appreciate the protest against the war, but I think she went about it wrong. Hindsight is 20/20.
I've just about convinced myself that the woman was on some serious drugs for a chunk of the 60s and 70s.

It was very late at night here, bvt, & your statement had a rather convincing ring to it, you see. In my tired state I thought you actually meant it. Surprised, I was!
I guess I should have been clearer, sorry.

This didn't happen - it was debunked by Snopes.
They actually do a good workup on her. Pro and con.
and the book is looking more interesting as I'm seeing reviews of it.
Osso, at that late hour it probably wouldn't have registered, anyway! No need to be sorry.
<what happened to eoe's post?>
Here's what appears to be a more factual picture of Ms Fonda by a Vietnam Vet turned journalist:

Thanks, hon. Stickin' to Snopes.
on a personal note, I had returned from my sojourn in southeast indo-china when Jane performed in Hanoi, my response was "whatever"
