Oh my Intrepid, that is indeed a very old picture Mr. Green

Taken about 1951 before Elizabeth became queen. Charles was born in 1948. I have another one of the family taken about the same time.

BTW---Camilla would never become Queen of England even if Charles were to become King. She would also not be Princess Camilla.

Unable to take his new wife into the woods due to the ban on hunting with dogs, Charles hatches a plan.

Charles had previously announced that Camilla would be known as Princess Consort, not Queen. She will also be called Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cornwall. Legally, she will be the Princess of Wales, but will not use the title.

as I said its not a morganatic marriage so she will be Princess of Wales, and she will be Queen, even if she chooses to call herself by some other ridiculous title.

(although she will not be crowned)

My understading -- such as it is -- is that she will be created the Duchess of Cornwall. After Charles is crowned, she will be known as the Princess Consort, never as Queen.

People still dont get this

Its not a morganatic marriage, which means she has title to (literally) all the ranks privileges titles etc of her husband.

So as he is King so she will be Queen
So as he is Duke of Argyl she will be Duchess
So as he is Prince of Wales she will be Princess
As he is Duke of Cornwall she will be Duchess of Cornwall.

+ 100 other bloody titles and names and privileges

She is to be known as Duchess of Cornwall then Princess Consort just for public consumption. She is legally Princess and will be legally Queen.

Curious thing about this thread. The people who seem the most upset by the whole marriage question also seem to be the ones who claim to be most anti- Royal. If one really doesn't like the whole concept of the House of Windsor, why should one care one way or the other what the prince does? I mean, if it's the "the taxpayers are paying for this" thing, the taxpayers will pay whether he marries a streetwalker or the Princess of Monaco (or wherever). Whose business is it except his and the family's?

There's never a good reason, CJ, but there are plenty of good excuses.

prince charles
some of the british experts on royalty (being interviewed on canadian broadcasting corp - CBC) have stated that IF charles should become king, camilla would automatically become queen. they have stated that to make this marriage more palatable to the british public this has not been been publicized so far. not being an expert on the applicable law, i don't know, of course. (having sworn allegiance to her majesty when i obtained my CANADIAN citizenship, perhaps i should enquire so that i'll know how to address her when i next meet her).

btw princess diana was honorary colonel-in-chief of a local regiment and visited our fair town on a number of occasions to inspect - THE PRINCESS OF WALES'S OWN REGIMENT -

your majesty's most obedient servant, hbg

Wow, those Canucks always struck me as being far too down-to-earth to put up with that crap.

What a disapppointment.

PS: Hamburger, I gather you became a Canadian in your adult life. What were you born?
