...from what I read in the paper today, Camilla
automatically becomes Queen should Charles
ascend the throne.

He's getting near retirement age.

For some time, even before things with Diana got publicly bad, there were rumors cooking up that the Queen was convinced Charles just wasn't King material, whatever that means, and that the throne would pass to one of his sons without him getting it.

Then things got really bad in public with Diana, giving the skip-over-Charles scenario even more weight.

I think Charles' marrying Camilla might be Charles throwing in the towel about ever getting the throne.

Ah, so. Thank you, Tico. When it comes to pop culture -- be it Brit or Yank -- I'm a total, complete and absolute ignoramus. Except for the ones who were popular in the 1960s and '70s. It was sometime in the early '80s that I stopped watching TV or listening to what passes for 'popular' music. Thanks again.

Andy doesn't know Mr. Bean?
That'd be like not knowing Monty Python.

I just hope he'll take her ugly ass to the dentist for the honeymoon.

Jesus. People ought not to have to look at things like that.

Aha - perhaps Rowan will repeat his charming set piece in Four Weddings and a Funeral - and actually perform the service!!!

I had better give you some perspective from "inside" if I may.
We set up an advisory group and came to the conclusion that His Highness should look for a wife outside the extended family in order to introduce some new blood.
Unfortunately, instead of looking outside the family, he chose someone outside of the species.

I say get rid of the top thirteen heirs as quickly as possible.
As I am fourteenth, I would then be KING !!

HOORAH FOR ME!

Wake up, Miz Bethie, wake up. I do know Monty Python and I even know Benny Hill. But this Bean person must be a newcomer. I have no truck wif such nouveau upstarts.

Quote:
Since his first appearance in 1989, Mr Bean has achieved a massive following around the world - he's now recognised as the most popular British comedy export since Benny Hill - with some people even thinking of him as a sex symbol.

His visual humour and elaborate sight gags transcend linguistic frontiers, and have earned comparisons with the great silent movie star Buster Keaton - although apparently his character was based on the work of French comic genius Jacques Tati.

From the second of Tico's links.

Newcomer.

..well, I wish Charles and Camilla peace in
their marriage...

and Charles, if it doesn't work out, I look rather
fetching in a hat, can ride a horse, and enjoy
ship christenings and jubilees......
