What if a city decided to put up a statue of Osama Bin Laden in the site of the world trade center. Would you tell New Yorkers, "if you don't like it, you can move somewhere else." I doubt it very seriously.

Statues and names celebrating slave owners and officers of the confederate army is memorializing the slave institution they represented. If southerners want to be proud of southerners they should put statues of those who ran the underground railroad for the slaves to escape to freedom. Or put statues up of Civil Rights leaders. Who were/are southerners as well. Your argument is a bogus argument. Not to mention revealing.

There is nothing bogus about Southerners proud of their culture.

That's the question they dance around. They suggest "history". It was way of telling black Americans where they were not welcome.

Because they were the leaders when the region was independent.

Local regions always revere past leaders from a time when that local region was independent.

That's why Texas still honors the leaders from when Texas was an independent country.



The statues were erected throughout post Civil War history.

And no matter when they were erected, deranged progressives always claim that the time period means racism.
