@coldjoint,
Oh please... How many European Mohammad caricatures made their way into a US newspaper? None. You guys are sissies, afraid of your own shadow.

Being aware of the truth has nothing to do with fear. Not accepting the truth is stupidity and cultural suicide.

@coldjoint,
My point is: European media have confronted radical islamist ideology head-on, with a courage that inspired many in the Muslim world to shake off oppression. It also antagonized others of course. There was something extreme in the way Charlie Hebdo, among others, was pursuing that line of work, but it was important work worth doing nevertheless.

I am not a shy person...and I always say what I have to say. I usually say it in the most effective way possible.

My last reply to you was very clear. YOU understood it.

@Frank Apisa,
Did I understand it, really? I'm not certain of it but here's what I got: you found my take a bit facile -- e.g.: it's easy to say but Obama was straightjacketed -- and took my dislike of the "turd" word as another facile way to avoid Snood's point. Is that about it?

What you don't know is that Snood has a history of insulting me, and I am growing tired of it. So if he wants to plead for rational, dispassionate discourse, I say: let him first practice what he preaches. Otherwise it's pure hypocrisy.

@Olivier5,
I wasn't aware of the situation you speak of regarding Muslims and Europe. It seems that some races have it hard no matter where they go, or people from war torn or drug lords countries.

@revelette1,
More precisely, poor and marginalized people have it hard no matter where. The system puts them down, by design, and on top of that many enforcers derive sadistic pleasure from putting the poor and powerless down.

OJ was well treated by the police who arrested him, because he is rich. They wouldn't kneel on the neck of a rich man of course.

@Lash,
Sanders Introduces Resolution to Protect American Democracy from Russian Meddling.

Thursday, July 19, 2018

WASHINGTON, July 19 — Sen. Bernie Sanders introduced a resolution Thursday to force members of the Senate to go on the record in accepting the assessment of the U.S. intelligence community that Russia interfered in the 2016 presidential election and the looming threat of Russian interference in this year's midterm elections.

The resolution also calls for the Senate to commit to safeguard the U.S. election system, protect the ongoing investigation of Special Counsel Robert Mueller and demand that President Donald Trump cooperate with the investigation.

Sanders will speak on the floor regarding the resolution at 11:20 a.m. today.

"If President Trump won't confront Putin about interference in our elections and his destabilizing policies, Congress must act. Tweets and speeches are fine, but we need more from Republican senators now," Sanders said. “If their leadership won’t allow votes on this extraordinarily important matter, then my Republican colleagues must join with Democrats to make it happen or all of their words are worthless.”

On Monday, President Trump embarrassed and undermined the values of the United States by openly siding with Russia’s authoritarian leader, Vladimir Putin, against the unanimous assessment of the U.S. intelligence community that Russia interfered in the 2016 election.

In response to international backlash, President Trump claimed he misspoke and blamed the media for reporting what he said, but still sowed doubt about Russia’s electoral interference by claiming it “could be other people also.” Trump’s constantly shifting answers indicate that he still does not fully acknowledge the threat to American democracy.

Sanders’ resolution states that the U.S. Senate:

1. Accepts the assessment of the United States intelligence community with regard to interference by the Russian Federation in elections in the United States and in other democracies;

2. Must move aggressively to protect our election systems from interference by Russia or any foreign power, and work closely with our democratic partners around the world to do the same;

3. Demands that the sanctions against Russia that were passed last year be fully implemented by the president;

4. Will not accept any interference with the ongoing investigation of Special Counsel Mueller, such as the offer of preemptive pardons or the firing of Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, and that the president must cooperate with this investigation; and

5. Declares that the President must cooperate with the investigation of Special Counsel Mueller.

Michael Moore commenting about the photo of Pelosi standing up to Trump.

Michael Moore says that this is Donald Trump's worst nightmare.
Nancy Pelosi standing there and telling Trump what the truth is, and not taking any of his BS is so powerful.

There she is, letting him have it. The look on Trump's face. He's not use to having women talking to him this way.
And the men to Trump's right all hanging their heads in shame, knowing that Pelosi is right and Trump is wrong.

Michael Moore said that if he were in the room he would have stood up and cheered Pelosi.

@hightor,
In short, since Regan and later Clinton the US economy has been reengineered to benefit only the filthy rich, as evidenced by Thomas Piketty and others. That was a core point made by the two Sanders’ campaigns.
