@Frank Apisa,
If one wants to plead for the virtues of logic and dispassionate language, one might logically be expected to do so using dispassionate language, rather than insults. Don't you agree?

@oralloy,
You might act on facts but still toward one form or another of emotional reward, like everybody else.

@bobsal u1553115,
Quote:
A lot of people thought two things then: bad apple cops and they felt Garner was a thug.

Yes but that was not true, and Obama must have known that. He must have known that the problem was structural. That's probably what he meant by: "This is an issue we’ve been dealing with for too long and it’s time for us to make more progress than we’ve made".

Just to be clear, my point is he should have told the American people that this was a disgrace in much clearer terms. Not "an issue we are dealing with". Because in actual fact the US was not dealing with it, but ignoring it.

Sometimes, trying to play it cool, with layers after layers of understatement, you just become inaudible, vague and ineffective.

@Olivier5,
Richard Nixon came close to effecting a mistrial of Charlie Manson by his frank opinions of Manson, his guilt and his deserved penalty.

President Obama was not going to comment on an investigation with criminal proceeding in the air. That was only proper. We do not know what he ordered AG Holder and the DoJ to prepare for or look into.

President Obama made his opinion on police violence clear without interfering with any specific case which is the proper way a President should act.

@bobsal u1553115,
Yes there's that peril, but I'm not talking of taking side in a trial, just call a spade a spade. Don't tell me "this is an issue we are dealing with", when in fact nothing much is being done about it. That's what bosses say when they try to cover up something.

@Olivier5,
Plenty of members here bring quotes from Twitter. I’ll continue to do the same.

@Olivier5,
Calling Twitter members sock puppets is completely disingenuous.

See if you can make an honest point.

A sockpuppet is an online identity used for purposes of deception. The term, a reference to the manipulation of a simple hand puppet made from a sock, originally referred to a false identity assumed by a member of an Internet community who spoke to, or about, themselves while pretending to be another person.

@Lash,
If you quote twitter members here just because they say what you think, you are in effect using them as sock puppets, understood in the primary sense, you know, puppets made with actual socks?

@Olivier5,
Sock puppets are like when bobsal controlled identities he created so he could seemingly win arguments by being able to shout down others’ opinions with thirty fake accounts and downvote thirty times. It’s hiding behind accounts you create for that purpose.

That’s sock puppetry—not quoting other people.

@Lash,
That's just what people here understand to term to mean, figuratively. I meant it differently, as explained.

When I said: I don't need sock puppets, I meant that I can say whatever I want to say without quoting what some random guy said about it...

You are going to stick to ignorance of your own self and to denial of your own emotional motivations. People trying to be robots. Go figure.

@Lash,
I do not have sock accounts. a2k would know if I had sock puppets. Grow up.

Continuing to say I do is a lie. If you really believe I have sock puppet accounts, report it. There's only about 178 active members on a2k. ten or more members only signing in to thumb would stick out like a sore ... thumb. If anyone ran ten or so socks he/she would have to be so busy they'd never be able to post. One thing you can say about me is I do post. The second thing is: there's no need to thumb anybody more than five times. I admit it: I thumb your nasty stuff every time I can, but if you're already at 5 or more, I don't thumb. I've also thumbed you up or not thumbed you at all, BUT I do not have any sock puppet accounts, not even one. A2K has made it very clear: they do not want them and they suspend people for it. Ask cj.

I think you guys vote your own posts down for sympathy.

What he had to say was meaningful.

Okay...you expressed your dislike of the "dung"...but read it. It makes sense from a perspective we white people sometimes miss.
