@Setanta,
No handle wipers here. They did have six foot markers on the sidewalk for people lining up at the liquor store. Looong line yesterday. Please don’t tell me I don’t have to drink. You'd be wrong.

We will all look back on these days and laugh our asses off. Some of us anyway.
Or maybe the future dystrophia foretold in the movies will finally arrive.
Either way, enjoy the show.

@Setanta,
From your link. This is the part I found credible. And I’ll be pissed at NPR if the sunlight story i heard recently is false. That’s where I heard it. They are usually reliable.

Quote:
Nancy Messonnier, director of the CDC's National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases, said in an NPR interview in February that it's unclear how the coronavirus will react to heat or sunlight.

"I think it's premature to assume that," Messonnier said. "We haven't been through even a single year with this pathogen."

BTW, I’ve always hated the beach. But some like it.

@Leadfoot,
Didn’t read the whole thing but I’ve known for a long time that sunlight is generally lethal to viruses in general. If CV19 is different, I doubt we have studied it enough to know, as the CDC said.

From the Journal of Virology :

Quote:
Predicted Inactivation of Viruses of Relevance to Biodefense by Solar Radiation

C. David Lytle and Jose-Luis Sagripanti

UV radiation from the sun is the primary germicide in the environment. The goal of this study was to estimate inactivation of viruses by solar exposure.....

It goes on at length but it gets too deep for discussion.

I think that's the bottom line. We don't know.

If sunlight/ultraviolet works , I'd expect very different results in southern hemisphere (ie Brazil/Australia). in any case, much more research needs to be done.

Sunlight/Fresh air should help our mental health at the very least. I should go out more - and will, once it warms up a bit. Set has been great about going on his walks, even if some of the people out there are too stupid. I've told him my handy keep-away tips .... curse at people in a foreign language, flap your hands wildly ... but not his style eh

@Leadfoot,
Sunlight will probably kill the virus...but you said “instantly” earlier, and there is zero evidence of that.

The flu IIRC lasts up to 2 hours in direct sunlight.

@maporsche,
My bad.
It was for dramatic effect.
I hate people that do that.

This may be true but so what? It's not as if we can harvest all the bits of virus kicking around on floors and counters and floating through the air in buildings and extract it from sick patients and then lay it out in the sun to be killed. What am I missing?

Nobody warned him either, it was a surprise to him, too. He asked for it but he thought daring everyone would work as some sort of reverse psychology. Good riddance to bad garbage, including his little pals Hawkeye and nononono (who probably was whining just that pathetically when he got his suspension notice).

The moderators do not discuss who or why they suspend anyone except to the person being suspended. Stop talking out of your ass, if possible.

Who and why are both obvious- by the way they stopped posting suddenly, and by the content of their posts.

OK then funny guy. Where's your little friends?

Just because the moderators refuse to talk to you doesn't mean they don't talk to anybody.

@coldjoint,
Supposedly the suspension lasts longer every time you get suspended and his last one was a year. guess he won't be around again until at least 2022.
