@blatham,

Let me add one important point to the discussion above.

The GOP and allies have two parallel election strategies:
- get their base riled up, active and out to the polls
- do whatever possible to create disaffection and hopelessness on the left so that activism and voting are degraded.

They are acutely aware they are at a disadvantage generally but particularly when Dems are enthusiastic. That's their target.

Jeet Heer speaks to this in a series of tweets.
Quote:

4. Also: the real source of Biden's appeal, which might extend beyond partisan Dems, is that he's NOT exciting: he's running as a generic Dem, a return to normality, a Democratic Warren Harding. Given crisis situation, many voters fight that attractive.

Whistling in the dark???

I suspect the hopelessness on the left is a thing of their own making that began some time ago. The several dramatic acts in their continuing, but failed, efforts to destroy Trump have left them with the recent awareness that they have wasted precious time, and now approach the election with (1) no record of legislative achievement; (2) no viable platform to offer the voting public; (3) virtually no internal unity among still ardent Bernie supporters, the crazy Green New Deal activists and the feckless party Legislative leaders still, in the grip of TDS, unable to address the issues facing the country; and (4) a dotty, corrupt lifetime politician of no notable achievement as a Presidential candidate.

The initial enthusiasm among Democrats for the failed Bloomberg candidacy was an indicator. Biden's win in South Carolina and the short period during which he accumulated additional wins in State primaries, provided a brief intermission from the gloom. However more public exposure to Biden's dotty confusion and lack of situational awareness soon ended that.

Now hacks such as the quoted Jeef Heer are trying far too hard to make a virtue out of necessity by claiming that ole Joe represents a return to normalcy under a "generic Democrat". We're hardly in normal times now. Biden is merely a tired, corrupt relic with no leadership potential at all. More to the point, the voting public is keenly aware of all of this.

It is sad to see Blatham reduced to offering this crap as a strategic insight of some sort.

Yeah, that's kinda what I thought too, George. Except I wouldn't say "sad," as sorry as it is. I would say "predictable."

These cheese-eaters, to a man, have a uncanny ability to ignore all facts and stand reality on it's head in their minds. Whatever they want to be true must be true. They aint exactly quick learners, know what I'm sayin?

@layman,
Nancy Pelosi's last minute holdup of urgently needed legislation to include unrelated tokens of the Green New Deal and a few payoffs for favored organizations like the Construction Trade Unions was a sad and almost laughable example. (Her husband owns a very large Construction company) .

@georgeob1,
Pelosi no doubt sees herself as a shrewd operator and a political sophisticate, but she just comes across as completely sophomoric most of the time.

If she was half as smart as she seems think she is, she would realize that everyone else in the world isn't stupid enough to be persuaded by her sophistry. or misled by her attempts at misdirection. She just insults the intelligence of the average voter.

Hey! Look at me! I just tore up Trump's speech. I''m sure you'll vote for me now, eh!?

Here's a political cartoon from back when the Democrats were still holding up the legislation:

The President is literally talking about his ratings during a news conference that earlier referenced 200k people dying.

Indeed he is. And we're all shocked. Even though he tweeted this morning about how good the ratings are for his press briefings. We're still shocked. So unlike a narcissistic sociopath.

With so many young families isolated at home and now faced with the burden of keeping their children engaged in worthwhile activities and learning hour after hour and day after day, one very positive outcome we can expect is a renewed appreciation of what teachers do every day. That will be a blessing.

As devoted as Thomas Paine. (I'm not even a fan of the fat guy.)

You and Moore happen to define "patriotism" in different ways.
