Sanders will never drop, see 2016.

It's a different race though, and Sanders is 4 years older. Among Warren and him, the loser of Iowa and New Hampshire might of course hang on for a few more states but they can't beat Biden if they don't unite, so logically we should have one progressive candidate left in a month or two.

@Olivier5,
So cute you believe that actions taken in this political climate will be motivated by logic. Just adorable.

@snood,
Were you trying to sound condescending, Snood? That was very very cute !

You misunderstood what I said, or more probably you pretended to misunderstand it, in your typical bad faith. What I said is that the logic of the situation requires that the two progressives unite to beat Biden. If they fail to see or do that, Biden will simply win the nomination.

You understand now, cutey sweetie pie?

Wow, do I feel dumb .
I went to SNopes an they kinda chewed her out for playing that game back then. I wonder if she was seeking a chunk of some casino cash?

Oh well, She wasnt my choice , seems theres no one out there who can look 100% clean (except in a comparative way).

Your book apparently int science. We use ancestry markers for lots of associations and haplotypes.
Your thinking is kinda like Darwin who nevercorrectly understood how " favored traits" worked.

I suppose Warren could have been being factual that she got her ancestry information from family records and verbal history. I agree that listing her "race" as native american needed a bit more bolstering.

Kinda like our president, The Swedish Chef.

@farmerman,
Yawn — I can't believe this is still being raised as an "issue". I think it's very possible that Warren simply believed the family lore she grew up hearing, treasured this aspect of her heritage, and wasn't trying to pass herself off as a deserving member of a minority community but was simply expressing pride in this distinction. This particular USAmerican practice of breaking down one's ancestry into fractional elements of different races and ethnicities is pretty meaningless — dumb, actually — but people do it all the time. It was just an annoying conceit until schools started affirmative action admission policies.

Frankly, I think the government has no right asking such a stupid question and I've started just checking the box that says "other".

Sanders climbs, now tied with Biden among registered voters: Reuters poll

NEW YORK (Reuters) - U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders has been steadily climbing in popularity this year and is now tied with former Vice President Joe Biden for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination among registered voters, according to a Reuters/Ipsos national poll.

The online poll, released Thursday, shows that 20% of registered Democrats and independents said they would back Sanders over 11 other candidates to run in the general election against President Donald Trump, an increase of 2 percentage points from a similar poll that ran last week.

Another 19% supported Biden, 12% said they would vote for Senator Elizabeth Warren, 9% backed former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and 6% said they would support Pete Buttigieg, the former mayor of South Bend, Indiana.

The real story there is Bloomberg got 6%. Shows the impact of advertising. I watch very little TV and have seen the Bloomberg commercials - well done and everywhere.

Warren seems to like to play victim with her racial fraud, lying about being fired for getting pregnant....and now weaponizing this thing with Bernie.

Hope she wasn't counting on support from his base were she to get the nomination.

@McGentrix,
In many places you would be legally required to do so.

The thing with Warren is that she made that claim to take advantage of programs designed to help minorities. I think she would have a hard time saying that she faced discrimination and lack of opportunity because of her native heritage, so I don't think you can ignore her making that claim. When someone hired her and checked off their diversity goal, that meant someone else who likely had faced challenges because of their background didn't get the consideration they needed. The flip side is that I think just about every other American would check that box. If someone told you that you could technically check a box on an application and by checking it your chances of getting a job might go up, I think you would check the box.

@Olivier5,
One thing I believe Bernie CAN do is to debte Trump , one coot to another, nd I dont think Bernie will fall for Trumps childish insults. I think Bernie is a quicker wit than is Trump. (Actually Trump has NO wit about him, hes pretty much an amoral snake)

@farmerman,
I'm not sure Sanders have any advantage over any other candidate here. Trump is a terrible debater. Clinton completely waxed him, Trump is still President. I think all of the top candidates would have no trouble debating him. IMO, I think Buttigieg would be the strongest debater against Trump if that were the key criteria.

Actually , its not debate skills .I mispoke,, I shoulda said that Bernie has nothing to lose against Trump and he can easily swap insults with more skill.
