The odd alliance between Islamists and the “woke” intersectional Left

Other Islamists who have embraced and adopted progressive rhetoric are clearly being duplicitous, however. The Texas-based cleric Omar Suleiman, for instance, has been vocal in protesting the Trump administration’s immigration policies. “Haunting” and “powerful” images of Suleiman gazing into the eyes of an immigrant child ran in national media outlets (with the help of Suleiman himself, who promoted them heavily). And yet, speaking before an Islamist audience, Suleiman has warned Muslim girls that if they are “promiscuous,” they may face death at the hands of a family member. Likewise, Al Jazeera’s social media channel, AJ+, posts documentaries on transgender rights and the wickedness of misogyny, homophobia, and other bigotries—but its Arabic parent station broadcasts sermons by Muslim Brotherhood clerics advocating the killing of Jews and gays and offering husbands permission to beat their wives.

Some of the most ascetic Muslim clerics reject all ideological alliances. They may engage in barebones interfaith activities, but they do so while warning against accepting the “validity” of other religions and preaching that “Islam in the West is a resistance movement against totalitarian liberal ideology.” (As Michel Houellebecq illustrates with alarming plausibility in his novel Submission, this line of thinking may end up appealing to Western traditionalists also frightened by the progressive movement, who find shared values with Islamist ideologues.)

There'll be a sizable American right wing contingent saying something very similar, guaranteed. Tucker Carlson might lead their charge unless Limbaugh gets there first.

Radio host Rush Limbaugh weighed in on the New Zealand mosque attacks Friday by suggesting that the Australian man allegedly behind them — whose manifesto outlined his white supremacist worldview — is a leftist out to smear his “political enemies.”

Citing how “crazy” the left is, Limbaugh added that there is an “ongoing theory” that the shooter is a “leftist who writes the manifesto and then goes out and performs the deed purposely to smear his political enemies, knowing he’s going to get shot in the process.”

“If that’s exactly what the guy is trying to do then he’s hit a home run, because right there on Fox News: ‘Shooter is an admitted white nationalist who hates immigrants,'” Limbaugh said.

Limbaugh also dismissed the idea that there is “far more crazed right-wing terrorism in America than there is any other kind,” calling the claim “nothing more than a media narrative manufactured out of whole cloth.”

“You realize you’re going to face a whole day of Donald Trump being blamed for it, or you being blamed for it, or things you believe in being blamed for it,” Limbaugh said.

This is what Limbaugh does all the time. It is what he has always been doing. This is straight up misinformation in aid of his Republican President and party. That is, it is propaganda.

Of course and as always, the goal is to keep his base inflamed and stupid. This game earns him $50 million a year. He is a sociopath.

If you really wanted to stop horrifying acts of violence like the one we just saw in New Zealand, like the ones we have seen repeatedly over the past five or six years, you would take an honest look at what the West has become.

It is a place where the church has died. A place where a foolish ruling class calls itself God, a place where the people wither.

Its hallmarks are fatherlessness, addiction, mental illness, evaporating social trust, and the widespread nihilism you would expect as a result of all of that.

This is the society that our ruling class built.

Whether it's the "walk away" crowd, or Lush Lamebrain, or any other far right propaganda effort, the significant thing is that they're always preaching to the choir--they are always talking to Plump's base. That base is not, or would not be, sufficient to defeat the Democrats, and that explains the constant attacks on individual Democrats such as we see Lash and others posting. That's why the Russian troll farm has been hitting this site (and doubtless hundreds or even thousands of others) with various narratives, the most recently popular being the claim that the Democratic Party is antisemitic.
