Is money important to Netanyahu, as a driving force, or is it more about power for him?

We haven’t found that he is accumulating money in offshore bank accounts in crazy amounts. There have been allegations, but this case is not about that. It is much more about influence in the media and, obviously, a sense of entitlement, as if it is O.K. for him to accept gifts. The bribery we are seeing here is much more about undermining the media and getting favorable coverage. That said, there is this vibe around the Netanyahu family about the fact that he deserves to earn huge sums of money because, if he wasn’t serving Israel as Prime Minister, he would be making these incredible sums of money in the private sector. You see his son or his wife saying things to that effect. And they love hanging out with very rich people. There is this whole thought that he should be of that social class, and the only reason he is not actually a billionaire is that he is serving his country, so he deserves the trappings of the life of a billionaire, whether it is the suits he gets from rich donors, the wine, the cigars, the travel.
