We’re in an info war. The right is actively trying to divide the left on social media. This post urging people to impersonate resistance accounts is only 1 example of the type of malicious tactics we’ll see leading up to 2020. Stay vigilant. Vet sources. Don’t let them divide us.
Accusing 'the enemy' of trying to 'divide you' is an ideological tactic designed to stimulate solidarity across differences among people oriented toward collective unity as strength.
If you give up factionalism and opt to simply operate as an independent individual instead, there's no issue with 'division.' In fact, you don't even recognize 'division' because you aren't actively trying to form a collective faction against other factions.
ALL you are doing is just putting forth a POV into the collective discourse of democracy-without-factionalism.
If you orient toward factionalism and solidarity against enemies, you end up sacrificing aspects of what you truly believe in order to be pragmatic and win. If you do this, you will end up supporting positions that you ultimately don't believe in. That might be fine if you don't care about trading in your position for some other position that undermines your POV, but if you are truly righteous, you don't want to give into pragmatism and 'lesser evils.'
Better to go on striving to cure ALL evils than to side with some 'lesser evils' against other 'greater evils.'
In that sense, it doesn't matter whether the right divides the left or the left divides the right, etc. All that matters is that you continue to pursue your best goals in whatever context. To quote Melania (maybe misappropriating her words, idk), "be best."
