Anybody been seeing the stories about Biden trying to say good about the Pres and VP, while maintaining he's not?

@edgarblythe,
Not I. Have seen very little on Biden for quite a while other than "I haven't decided". Though I confess I don't follow the news on him much.

I really would like to hear a candidate announcing a run and giving the rationale that he/she wants to spend less time with his/her family.

John Cleese notes that Netanyahu is describing the criminal indictment against him as a "witch hunt". He adds...
Quote:
This ingenious defence is better used when the accused is a woman, as witches tend to be girlies

I suggest, as an alternative, 'unicorn hunt' or 'flying pig hunt'

Or even 'criminal hunt' ?

Candace Owens accuses Kamala Harris of pandering to POC by saying she smoked weed and listened to hip hop

I wonder how Kamala Harris could do both smoke weed and listen to hip hop at the same time. I had a brief period in my life where I experienced a little of the former, always made me want to listen to mellower music such as John Lennon or something.

My granddaughters, daughters and nieces and nephews all like hip-hop and (mostly) rap. Daughters both white, some of nieces and nephews and one granddaughter is mixed. The last mixed granddaughter is not really wild about rap, hates loud rap sound going in all around the car. A source of arguments between my white granddaughter and my mixed granddaughter every single time they get in the car.

Just saying.

It looks like Bryce Harper has a baseball contract that pays him $25M per years.

If you think that's weird, Rush Limbaugh makes $50M a year.

Washington Gov. Inslee joins Democratic presidential field

Quote:
SEATTLE — Washington Gov. Jay Inslee will seek the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination, mixing calls for combating climate change and highlights of his liberal record with an aggressive critique of President Donald Trump.

The 68-year-old governor is launching his bid Friday in Seattle, following recent visits to the first primary state of New Hampshire and the early caucus state of Nevada.

"We went to the moon and created technologies that have changed the world — our country's next mission must be to rise up to the most urgent challenge of our time: defeating climate change," Inslee says in a video announcement ahead of a public announcement later Friday in Seattle.

I realize this is tongue in cheek but Harris was not saying what she listened to while high. She was trying to answer two different questions (Did you smoke pot in college, and what kind of rap do you like) from two different people at the same time. The conflating of the two answers is bullshit intended to smear her as a liar. If you watch the Breakfast Club interview clip, you can see it.

As to your other point about mellower music preference while smoking - difference strokes.

Sheesh. It's starting to look like on of those Keystone Cops films with 40 cops in the back of a truck barreling crookedly down the road.

I know nothing about the man. He's in.

This morning, Gov. Jay Inslee (D-WA) released a video announcing he's running for president...

...to fight climate change.

edit- just saw the earlier post about it.

True, I like John Lennon music in any mood and I dislike any kind of rap. All I meant by that rambling discourse on my kids in my family is all kinds of kids like rap and hip and hop and some adults as well who grew up on it. On the interview I didn't watch it, probably was a loaded interview.

Those ******* billionaires that always take and never give back!

'“This is an important milestone for the University of Washington, Microsoft and the broader tech sector in our state,” said Microsoft President Brad Smith. “The Gates Center will provide UW students with the opportunity to learn computer science and ultimately help increase the local talent pool. It truly is an incredible asset for our region.”

The $110 million building was funded through a public-private partnership that included contributions from the state Legislature, the university, technology companies including Microsoft, Amazon, Zillow, Google and Madrona Venture Group, and more than 500 individuals — including more than 300 Allen School alumni — in a campaign led by Microsoft President Brad Smith. While Bill and Melinda Gates were among those who generously supported the project, their participation was not the reason behind the building name. Instead, as a gesture of admiration and gratitude for the couple’s many professional and philanthropic contributions, Microsoft and 13 couples who are long-time friends and colleagues of Bill and Melinda Gates came together to name the building in their honor.'

I knew him well about 22 years ago. He was then a freshman Congressman from Kennewick Washington (east of the Cascades), adjacent to the former AEC/DOE Hanford Site. I was then the President of the operating company at the site. A nice guy, but an intellectual lightweight, and very ambitious. He was then a very obedient protégé of Rep. Norm Dicks, a conservative Democrat who more or less ran the Washington State delegation.

@georgeob1,
Just curious, (to know how you measure intellectuals) who would be the lighterweight intellectual (so to speak) Trump or Gov. Jay Inslee?

@revelette1,
I've never met with or conversed with President Trump: same goes for his predecessor President Obama and his opponent in the last election Hillary Clinton. Like most Americans, I have judged each by what I see resulting from their actions in office and, to a lesser extent, the content of their rhetoric.

In stark contrast, I have spent a great deal of time with Jay Inslee, both in Washington State and Washington DC, mostly dealing with matters involving the Hanford Site and the twelve thousand employees of the operating company, for which I was responsible.

@georgeob1,
Okay, based on your observations and hearing of Trump's rhetoric, speeches, tweets and accomplishments (of which anyone who hasn't lived in an isolated cave would have heard or read), and what you recall of Gov. Jay Inslee which one would be the light(er)weight intellectual? If you don't mind kind of give examples of your recollections of Gov. Jay Inslee lightweight intellectualism vs. examples of any of the above I listed of Trump's.

@georgeob1,
Here's where I bow (part way) to george. Real familiarity with a subject or person ought not to be disregarded. Absence of real familiarity (through little/no experience and little/no study) are the cases where knowledge claims get silly.

Edit: just saw the last post
A more analogous challenge for george (if you want to give him one which I'm not) would be to make comparisons between Trump and Obama, neither of whom he has met).

@blatham,
I am still curious why he considered him a lightweight intellectual and if he considers Trump, I don't know, middleweight intellectual in comparison. I mean, that's a pretty big judgment call about a candidate for President. I personally find it snarky.
