@Olivier5,
Not irked so much as annoyed that you’re criticisms are *mostly* directed at non-Sanders-enthusiasts. While I’ve seen you mention that some of the progressives should tone down their rhetoric as well, you’re no where near as diligent as policing their (your?) side.

So while you feel the need to point it out, I also feel the need to counter your points when I feel it is warranted, as I did here.

Breaking: I'm thrilled to say that, in less than a week, more than 1 million people have signed on to volunteer and commit to do what it takes to win this campaign. #Bernie2020

I will be at his campaign event on Sunday in Chicago to hear him in person.

I’ll be wearing a Klobuchar 2020 button but I’ll be there.

@maporsche,
As much as I hate Trump, as a non-US citizen I do try to keep a light footprint on US electoral debates here, at least this time around. And I'm not trying to police anyone, just saddened when I see intolerance and bitterness among natural allies on the left. We know how this story ends...

@Olivier5,
Tell me about it.

If all supporters of candidates on the Democratic ticket took my pledge to support any of them in November (and actually show up to do it) that would do a lot to persuade me of their support for the left of center causes/positions and the seriousness of their desire to get the country back on track (in our opinions).

I haven’t seen progressives here take that pledge. I have seen more moderate Democrats take that pledge.

@maporsche,
I haven't seen any posters taking your pledge, but have noticed enough media pundits and A2Kers putting out their best behavior to be reasonably optimistic, so far. Long way to go though.

Haha. We’ll just see about that. Using boogeymen scare terms to the easily fooled is a very effective ploy in the US, but eventually, they’re going to hear that their kids and parents don’t have to die because they can’t afford medication and medical care, and I’m counting on it happening at least once in the next year.

She will go down with her mouth open. Chris Wallace could not get a word in, in his interview on Sunday.

@Lash,
I am mixed on this, to be honest. Nothing to do with Gillibrand or any other candidate. My concerns relate to electoral competitiveness. The principled stance taken by Sanders and Warren is encouraging from a moral point of view. But any chance of real progress towards decreasing the role of money in elections is utterly dependent on significant Dem electoral victories. And I am just not educated enough in the studies done that attempt to sort this out.

And we know how well funded the GOP is by thousands of very deep pocketed individuals and entities and we also know that they do not give a **** about such moral considerations.

@Brand X,
If North Korea doesn't give up their nukes, then we don't relax the sanctions.

If we are ever forced to go to war with North Korea, and if North Korea is still a nuclear power at the time, then we are free to lead off that war with a nuclear strike against the North Korean government.

Elected representatives who lie to citizens like this and do so on a near daily basis and who are driven to do so solely to gain or maintain power and privilege are - let's be honest - guilty of political/civic evil.

On Senate floor, @senatemajldr McConnell shamelessly blames Dems for Mark Harris' election fraud in North Carolina, because Dems haven't supported voter ID laws.

Funny you should mention that...

Republican Mark Harris won’t run in new North Carolina election after fraud claims, citing health
Alex Pappas By Alex Pappas | Fox News

Republican Mark Harris said Tuesday he will not run in the new election for North Carolina’s 9th congressional district, citing his “extremely serious” health condition.

It comes just days after the North Carolina State Board of Election unanimously voted for a new election after the district’s House race from 2018 was marred by claims of ballot fraud.

“After consulting with my physicians, there are several things that my health situation requires as a result of the extremely serious condition that I faced in mid-January,” Harris said in a statement. “One of those is a necessary surgery that is now scheduled for the last week in March.”

Harris added, “I have decided not to file in the new election for Congressional District 9.”

Last week, Harris, who outpaced Democrat Dan McCready by 905 votes in the contested race, said in court he has suffered two strokes since the election and was “struggling” to get through the hearing.

In his statement Tuesday, Harris threw his support behind Union County Commissioner Stony Rushing.

"The North Carolina Republican Party fully supports Dr. Harris' decision,” North Carolina Republican Chairman Robin Hayes said. “The most important thing for him to address is his health. This has been a grueling process for all involved, and we unequivocally support his call for a new election.”

Last week, Harris acknowledged a new election should be held after days of testimony in a hearing on ballot-tampering.

“I believe a new election should be called,” Harris said. “It’s become clear to me that public confidence in the 9th District has been undermined to an extent that a new election is warranted.”

In his sworn testimony, Harris said that he was assured by political operative – and convicted felon – Leslie McCrae Dowless that campaign workers would never collect absentee ballots, despite concerns from Harris’ son, John, that Dowless was illegally collecting and turning in ballots from voters.

One of the methods participants said Dowless used was to hire workers to collect absentee ballots from voters who received them, and then turn them over to him, according to an elections board investigation.

State election law prohibits anyone other than a guardian or close family member from handling mail-in ballots. Harris' team initially said in a legal briefing submitted to the elections board last week the board should certify him the winner -- no matter what Dowless did for the campaign.

Harris’ comments calling for a new election came a day after his son took the stand in emotional testimony that left his father in tears.

"I raised red flags at the time the decision was made to hire Mr. Dowless," John Harris said in his testimony on Wednesday.

The ends justify the means, eh blatham?

Embracing corruption to combat it is A-OK if you give a **** about it Very Happy

I should be amazed that you weren't too embarrassed to write such an intellectually dishonest post, but, alas, I've been reading your efforts at propaganda for quite a while now and so am not. Allowing yourself an escape route with the "I'm mixed on this..." is pretty feeble.

The nasty, oppressive tsar utilized secret police to round up and imprison or kill political enemies (i.e. communists), because he and his obscenely wealthy cronies feared to lose their privilege and power, but what choice did the Communists, once in power, have but to do the same or all the wonderful reform and progress of the Glorious Revolution would have been lost. I'm sure Lenin and Stalin even squeezed out a tiny turd or two when they signed the death orders of their former comrades.

Rep. Ilhan Omar

In the 5 years after the Voting Rights Act was gutted, nearly 1,000 polling places in the U.S. have been closed—many of them in primarily black counties.

Proud to stand with my colleagues today as we introduce a bill to #restorethevote 💪🏽
