@edgarblythe,
Pay go requires that all new spending be offset by tax increases or budget cuts.

Can a progressive explain why this is a bad thing?

@maporsche,
Pay go doesn’t stop ANY legislation from being enacted.

I believe that Progressives will lose all of their policy initiatives if they refuse to fund them.

If progressives are responsible and have plans to pay for their promises then PayGo does nothing to hurt them. Nothing at all.

But they are going to meet to discuss healthcare for all. Makes them look concerned with doing the right thing. Rolling Eyes

Seriously; you're being a stubborn fool.

You expect them to enact legislation on day 1 without even having a single meeting about it?

Did Bernie and AOC have some fully written healthcare bill that they were going to pass on their own without showing anyone?

The same progressives that will argue for free collage will say that student loan debt is too much a burden to place on young people.

....and will also say that we shouldn't pay for Medicare for All and instead should be deficit spending and magically it won't be too much a burden to place on young people.

That's what I''m hearing from these fools against the PayGo rule.

@maporsche,
Combine the best from these five countries that already have universal health care, and implement it. Make revisions as needed. https://internationalliving.com/countries-best-healthcare-world/

@maporsche,
Our country already pay the most, and we don't have universal health care. That's the reason we need to follow the healthcare systems of other countries that are successful. We have been covered by Kaiser Hospital system, and our hospital is only one block from where we live.

Great. Then let's get the CBO to score that and come out deficit neutral, have some provisions kick in if the CBO estimate is off, and I'll be on board.

PayGo hurts nothing IF there are plans in place to pay for things.

....so why all the bitching about PayGo? Who's agenda does that serve?

@maporsche,
One top priority should be to undo that huge republican tax cut that was given to the wealthy.

Discussing and having hearings on (Medicare for All) legislation is one step closer to one day accomplishing that goal.
I believe this will be the first time that Congress will have actual hearings on (Medicare for All) legislation.
Being that this is the first time of having such a hearing can be seen as a milestone.

Maybe I am wrong. Maybe there have been hearings on this in the past. I am just not aware of any such hearings in the past.

Although we don't have (Medicare for All) at this time on this date, I feel good that we are at least moving in that direction. Very Happy

@Real Music,
That tax cut is hurting more than our deficit. Trump's tariff is killing our stock market and jobs. https://www.latimes.com/politics/la-na-pol-tax-cuts-debt-20180626-story.html

@edgarblythe,
What do you mean when you say hearings are hobbled against the next two years?
Can you clarify what you are saying?
