Goofing off in photoshop - what do you think?

Oh man. I'll have to give myself a year just to practice. What's the old adage about working with kids and animals? I'm finding animals to be much more difficult. Thank goodness for digital - erase, erase, erase, erase, erase, maybe, erase, erase, erase, erase....

There is a woman in town who (rightfully) has the pet portrait market pretty well cornered. She is very, very good. Wiggling into her niche would be very difficult.

I was just goofing off with a picture of my dog Bird and thought it turned out pretty cool. I might turn it into a valentine to send out this year.

I edited her foot out - it looked really freakish. I think I like this version better:

I think I've scared, Vivien!

I received a email photo of my new grand-niece. It wasn't good enough to play with straight photo wise so I messed around with some filters (talk about a learning curve). I'm not sure what to think....

Looks great Boomerang! Question for you, was there a particular effect or look you were going for?

That's what people with cat allergies are allergic to. Cat's lick their fur, thus making people allergic to the fur.

We have LaPerms. Very curly, very loving, very playful. They shed, but they do it in clumps; no floating hairs.

No not really.

I have gone back and toned down the orange a bit though and it looks a little better.

Really I was playing around seeing what I could do with a pretty but technically bad (some highlights were completely blown out). I usually don't use filters so it was kind of a goof around. I think I used "poster edges" and "watercolor".

I'm trying to teach myself more about photoshop and the filter thing is my new task.

That's the best way to learn, really.

One thing to consider if you haven't already: You can get some fairly unusual effects by mixing and repeating filters.

Cheers!

Thanks for the tips, Questioner! I'll keep fiddling.

Oh my gosh! That cat is huge!

I love that photo on the baby's chair.

Big Orange, one of the stays we feed, would look just like that if only he'd settle down and come inside and be my friend.

Today is Mo's birthday. Each year we measure him against this stick. I made this up as a front piece to the new photo album that starts today....

Wow. It has been a long time since I've posted to this thread. My life got complicated and my computer went kaput so I haven't been doing much of my own work.

This is Mo's best friend.

Every time (day) when he comes over here he is always telling me "My mom said I could." His mom and I crack up over it because he always says it before he does something totally nuts. Still, I'm not exactly sure how she would feel about having it commemorated. How would you feel about such a thing? Okay or nokay?

I'm really just goofing around so it's not like I have to give her a print or even have one made for myself.

What do you think about it?
