Goofing off in photoshop - what do you think?

I get what boomer means though about it being true to Texas light even if that photo is technically overexposed -- it IS hot there! (Well, when I was there in July, anyway. But the light is familiar to me.)

Whereas your photo is more of a cool, restful, woodsy scene. (Still pretty though!)

I think that's why I got the filtered rays on the sunlight

With photoshop every exposure can be corrected and sometimes it is hard to know when NOT to do it.

I really like borders (obviously) but I haven't decided what to do with it. A dark boarder anchors it nicely but it contradicts the real washed out atmosphere. I'm thinking of adding film grain and scratches to make it look like a still from an old home movie. Maybe then a boarder will work better.

This photo has been a real challenge. I've probably made 15 different versions and none of them have worked right. I know I'll hit on it but it is taking more experimentation than most.

Thats exactly what I mean soz - giving myself over to the overexposure - it IS hot there. The light is very intense and I think this photo could really play up by making it almost hard to look at.

If I ever get it right I'll repost the results.

I use an Olympus E-10. I love it. I am so not a gear-head though and a lot of people don't think they're flexible enough.

I'm looking to downgrade. I think I want one of those Pentax weatherproof pocket digital cameras.

My dinky film camera finally bit the dust. My photo lab moved downtown and has no parking.

<sigh>

It is time to move on.

I cannot imagine needing more mexapixil! My files are gigantic when I shoot on "super high quality" and even bigger than gigantic when I shoot as a Tiff. I print crystal clear 30x40 with my 4 megapixels.

Kodak makes a camera now that is like 24 megapixels and I am completely baffled by who needs it!

Did I mention that I am not a gear-head?

I know a million times more about photo gear than I know about computers.

Maintaining my dumbshit status is a full time job.

Oh mercy.

I remember being one of the few girls in photo school..... they guys spent all their time bragging about their gear..... it is totally Freudian I'm telling you.

I'm sure somewhere there is some guy drooling over gigapixels and chances are he doesn't work for Scientific American.

I confess I don't know why someone needs a camera like that. What in the heck are they printing?

This is a lovely moody image - I would crop it a little on the left and quite a lot on the right, intensifying the distance - the angle of the barrier distracts me from the Mo/moon interaction.

I love the way you've done the border by just darkening the image.

Lots of other great images from you and Husker.

Sometimes the technically 'incorrect' makes a better image, with more mood I feel.

Hi Vivien!

Thanks. I'll try playing around with that cropping a bit and see how the mood changes!

I've really been wrestling with when to stop lately -- how much reworking is too much reworking and how much technical imperfection is okay and maybe when is it good and maybe when it is just plain bad. I imagine this is a much more complicated question for artists working with other media. I might have to pose that question to the art forum.

I've been working on the swimming pool picture (which is what promted my "when do you stop" conundrum). Here are a couple of different versions. I'd love some feedback!

Ugh.

Those look nasty against A2Ks blue-gray screen color. Honestly, they look better than that!
