@spendius,
I'm still staring bleary eyed at the headlines.....I've haven't read any details other than the baseball standings.

The door has a double deadbolt, you need a key on the inside as well as on the outside. It's what you put in windowed doors so that preps can't just smash the glass and reach in to turn the knob. http://i.pgcdn.com/pi/86/49/67/864967858_260.jpg

Meanwhile, the crossword is finished, in ink, and laying on the windowseat where I am at the moment.

So hungry I could eat these curtains.

@spendius,
You should beware of crossword puzzles Joe. Solving a clue provides a little frisson of joy and a bask in the pleasure of self-congratulatory approval and they leave you vulnerable to being steered.

gheezz guys! One sleeps on the floor and the other storms into the cellar as soon as it opens. Eva, you certainly got a dedicated crowd here....

I'll sponsor a good breakf...well it's lunch already I guess - so here is a great
lunch for Joe (hungry) Nation and something liquid for spendius.

@FOUND SOUL,
Oh good! The regulars are back again tonight!

CJ, thanks for helping out in the kitchen. That looked delicious! I think Joe finished his plate in less than five minutes.

And thanks for attending to spendius, too. He seems much less cranky now. I'm grateful for that.

Joe, thanks for installing the new lock on the door! I had been worried about someone breaking the glass. It happens far too often these days, and since our hours are a little...um...erratic, I feel much safer now. <aside> Jacques, pour our friend Joe a glass of something special, would you?

HA! I see we have another cat! Is this Bigsy's lady friend, FS? And this cat has her own iPhone! No, wait...that can't be hers. So, who does this phone belong to?

@Eva,
Isn't that just so like Bigsy to go and pick a cat smaller, simular in colour and one who pinches things like he does? Smile At least Joe got to eat his food in peace, without Bigsy trying to swipe some with his paw....as he does. I'm not sure she has a name? Maybe CJ can name her?

Anyone hungry for lunch?
I'm fixing myself a very special turkey sandwich. I can make extras!

Slice a good roll, pile on sliced turkey breast, slices of ripe Bosc pear, lettuce, a few basil leaves, and some caramelized onion strips. The recipe calls for some crumbles of blue cheese, but I don't care for it, so I'm leaving it off. The dressing is made of Dijon mustard, apple juice and brown sugar. A nice combination of sweet and savory flavors.

@FOUND SOUL,
If you stare at the pussy picture long enough, as William Blake suggested, you might get a glimmer of what the pretty little thing is thinking.

@CalamityJane,
We used to have one like that. Except for the white paw.

It loved tomato sauce. When we emptied a can of beans into a pan we threw the tin on the floor and it would push its head in further and further and then couldn't get it out. It would spend as long as we could take it backing round the room and then, after we got it off for it, the next hour washing its ears and head. We called it Trapper.

It fell into a tank of heating oil once and we had to have it shaved. It looked like a big rat.

@FOUND SOUL,
CJ, our two cats look quite different. The first one is Bigsy, the second is his lady friend. Did we ever decide on a name for her?

He thinks he's caught a mouse Eva, outside the back by the bins? Hehe.

He's staring at his girlfriend although you can't see her, feeling proud of himself, who gave him that toy? Can't wait to see what name CJ comes up with ...

In Germany we call most cats Mitzi and so it goes...
in real life I am more of a dog person as my avatar picture of Lilly shows.
I like cats, they're intriguing and entertaining, I just wouldn't want one in my house.

I just came back from shopping with my teenager, I think I need something stronger now.... several glasses of Margarita will do it, I guess..

@CalamityJane,
Jacques, please keep refilling CJ's margarita glasses...and don't forget the salt!

Dealing with teenage girls is sometimes delightful, but at other times it can be quite an ordeal. What were you shopping for, CJ?

@FOUND SOUL,
Look, we have a mouse catcher! (Not that we need one here, of course, but you never know when we might be overrun with toy mice!!)

C'mere, big boy. I think I saved some roasted chicken in the kitchen...
