.....and I like to take tons of chocolate with me too
Sophie might like a nice Hermes scarf Eva.
Gosh, we get spoiled here left and right - thank you Walter!
Hamburger just forked over some Demel pralinès ....
I shall gain 20 lb. by the time this week is over. <sigh>
A bit of info on California reds in today's San Francisco Chronicle -
California Red Blends, SF Chronicle
I still want to see more of Paris, but perhaps in another while.
Thank you for the info osso,
I do like our californian wines a lot.
Actually, where do we go back to? Eva, where is
Eva's Wine Cellar located?
Ooh! The Hermes scarf is an excellent idea for Sophie! She has such good taste. I think I'll bring her some chocolates, too.
CJ, the Wine Cellar is located in the basement of the Able2Know building....just below sidewalk level. If you want a shipping address (we'd love to serve some of your Californian wines!), send them to Eva's Wine Cellar, Post 1152048, Able2Know.com.
Osso, we're going to see a few more places in Paris before we have to leave. Where would you like to go? What would the rest of you like to see? The city is full of marvels. Or shall we leave it up to Francis?
Oh my goodness! Are we leaving so soon? Francis, would champagne be ruined if I bought some in Europe, knowing it would have to endure the flight home? Of course, it is flown to the States all the time, but it is specially wrapped and packaged.
I can't think of anything I love more than good champagne, well, chocolate, but champagne, good champagne, is not something one finds or even has very often. Its effect on me must be similar to the effect of cocaine on other people, although I've never tried cocaine. It is the ultimate wonder of man-made heaven. Only nature gets me higher.
Hey, CJ, just where is Eva's cellar? Don't you have any idea? Have we been hypnotized by Eva and Francis so that we no longer know where we are? If so, it's been a lovely time both in the cellar and in Paris. Hypnotize on, Eva. Your spell is not something we would want to escape.
Where would osso like to go in Paris.
Geez, louise.
Off the top of my head, I'd like to stroll the Marais.
I'd like to go to a certain author's piano shop (whose name I forget)
I'd like to go to the renown bakery that starts with a P, and some other more ordinary bakeries.
I'd like to check out all the train stations, I love train stations.
I'd like to spend days, literally days, in the midst of the bookshop area, whichever arondissement (sp?), but knowing french, which I don't. I could probably spend a day just as me, just looking at photos in books.
I suppose you expect a garden designer to say gardens...
not at this point.
I would, though, like to get up very high and study at length and photograph the city layout.
I happen to like cities as much as I do gardens.
And then I'd hit the Vietnamese restaurants.
And I'd try to meet Vincent, and a dear woman whose name is failing me now, starts with T. Was on abuzz, knew antique books cold.
Not to skip Francis. I take it for given that Francis and I have met.
Touissant, that was her name.
Wish she was on a2k.
Smooches to you, dear Diane! So nice to see you back here!
Hypnotism? Yes, I must have hypnotized you. We've been in Paris since the first of February...two and a half months now! (Or 57 pages, however you prefer to count it.) Darling Francis has been the best tour guide in the world, even letting us stay at his house all this time! Oh my, I do hope we haven't worn out our welcome. Eleven weeks is an awfully long time for houseguests!
While Francis is busy planning our last day or two of sightseeing, let's all get him something wonderful as a thank-you gift. He more than deserves it, don't you think? Let's see now.........<thinking, thinking>
My ex husband mentioned a wine in one of his plays, damn, what was it, Cheval Blanc of a certain year? I think he asked a mutual friend to mention a very serious wine...
we were shopping early Trader Joe's at that time.
Haut Brion are words I recognize as serious, but I think that is after dinner wine serious.
So, what about a finely wrought gift certificate for the best?
This is to remind everyone not to take me seriously. I like what I like. But I don't even have a sense of smell, much.
'Tis effervescent effluvial excrescense, my opinions on wine.
"Effervescent" is a good word to describe many of your posts, dear Osso!
Here, have some champagne.
I actually took osso's advice and had some californian
wine - it get's kind of hard writing now though <phew>
Diane, a girl after my own heart: chocolates and champagne,
that's all we need - and good company of course
Eva, what do people like to drink in Oklahoma?
CalamityJane wrote:Eva, what do people like to drink in Oklahoma?
Same thing they like to drink everywhere else.
It has come to my attention that I have several serious (and not-so-serious) contenders in the A2K Election.
The Wine Cellar will be hosting a Rally today to support the Love & Beauty Party. Champagne, chocolate and other delights will be on hand. Free bar. Dress optional.
It occurs to me that several others on the ballots would be a natural fit in our Party. I hope they will consider joining us to prevent the takeover of A2K by such unsavories as Gus and Kicky. <shudder> Before long, we'd all be knee deep in you-know-what around here. We can't have that! What we need is...WINE! CHOCOLATE! DANCING! SINGING! LOVE! Good company and good times, and a soft shoulder to cry on when life in the real world gets too heavy. Isn't that what we all need?
Step right up to the bar. Jacques is taking drink orders, and Sophie has brought some of her famous baked brie with brown sugar and almonds on top. The chefs in the kitchen are putting the finishing touches on their creations....
CalamityJane wrote:Eva, what do people like to drink in Oklahoma?
I can't speak for Okies, but us Kansans are partial to the dandelion wine we make and age out back next to the outhouse.
Then I'm glad you've brought some, Tico! Jacques will bring you a glass.
Beer is the preferred drink in small towns & farming communities. But in the cities, anything goes. We have our martini bars, coffeehouses and cosmo clubs. We can be just as pretentious as anyone anywhere.
At Eva's, however, the emphasis is on good food and good company. Glad you're all here!
