Oh, how nice! I like the sage green a lot Swimpy. Come
to think of, that's exactly the color of my living room sofa
(the lighter one you have in the kitchen).
Good choice on the color Swimpy

I don't know how true the color of the picture is. I suppose it depends on your monitor. It shows up a little too green on mine. I really like it though. It's a grown up color. Oh, damn! Does that mean I'm a grown up? NOOOOOO!!!!!

Looks good, Swimpy. I like having coordinated colors in adjoining rooms. The color is grown-up, I'm afraid, so you know what that means...

The floor guy came today! The floor guy came today!!! I just got home from work and found the kitchen floor is almost laid. Just a few boards around the perimeter are not done. I'm thrilled!! It looks great.

Floor Photos: There is no finish on the floor yet, so it looks very light.
The transition from living room to kitchen is eased by two strips of walnut. We thought that it would fool the eye into not noticing the difference between the new oak and the old.
Moving into the kitchen, Those are floor guy tools. Notice the ever-present dust on the door to the right.
Hang a right

It is looking fabulous, Swimpy. Love the new oak. I think the transition idea is a good one.
Lucky you!!!

They finished the floor already? You've got good workers
Swimpy, and it does look phantastic. What color will
the baseboards be?

Gosh, beautiful!
I like the walnut idea.
Will it all be stained/ varnished/ otherwise finished, or is that final color?

Thanks, Piffka.
CJ, today the floor is completely laid and has one coat of what I think is sanding sealer. The old baseboards are going in. They match the doors.
Soz, the finish will be clear, but it does darken the wood a bit. It will be close to the living room floor that is partly visible in the first picture.

That's what I wanted to know. Pretty!! The walnut will go darker then too right, less gray than it is now?

Yea, it's already a lot darker with just one coat of whatever he put on it and you can see the grain better.

No, the second coat went on today. We can't walk on it until Sunday. I think the cabinets will start going in on Monday. The end is in sight.

May I have a drum roll please? <ddddddddddddd>
Ladies and gentlemen, the moment we've all been waiting for.......CABINETS! They will be here on Monday.
Small potential snag, though. The contractor may have jury duty. He'll find out Sunday night if he has to appear.

Houston, we have a problem. I'm so upset right now, I can't think straight. Apparently the refrigerator, which has a stainless stell front but is black on the sides will have one of it's black sides exposed and the whole think will sit proud of the cabinets by about 4". And no one saw fit to point this out to me in the design phase!?!
They are going to scramble to get a panel to cover up the one side, but there is no fix for the other issue. Man, you pay throught the nose and still **** happens.
