Well, it's a new frig isn't it? You could send it back and get something smaller, right?
As for refrigerators sitting proud of the cabinets... they often do and it is hard to make them not which is probably why no one thought it worth saying. I think it's like hotdogs and hotdog buns.

Bummer though...
No, It's not a new fridge. It's not bery old and I don't want to buy a new one. I like your analogy aboyt the hot dogs & buns. It's exactly like that. (Or like high water pants.) I think I'll just yty to figure out a way to mask the black. We'll get a panel to make it look sorta built in. It's stupid, though. <sigh>
Tomorrow will l be better, I'm sure.
Ahhh. I was thinking you were going to get a new frig. Well. We once did a whole lot of remodeling because of a frig. so I feel your pain.
How about having them build a 2x2 framed wooden thing, floor to ceiling to mask the frig? It could even have pegboard and you could hang pans from it.
Here are some pictures of what took place yesterday:

The cabinets are beautiful!!! They're more honey, less red than I expected. Or will finishing affect that, too?
Will the top ones have glass in them?
Sorry about the fridge thing. :-( Maybe that explains the weird set-up in my old house. It was lots of beautiful cabinets, and then on one side of the kitchen, by itself, was the fridge with cabinets above it, wall on one side, and then just this sheet of wood coming down to cover the other side. Weird, flimsy, good enough but never really got it.
Looks like it's coming along nicely.
It does look very nice Swimpy, and I just can't get over
it, how fast your workers are. Friends of mine have lived
for 6 month through a kitchen remodel .....
Some glass doors would be great too.
Yes, the doors will have glass. I was a little surprised that it didn't come installed, but I guess it's safer to ship the glass in separate containers.
The cabinet wood is finished, but it will darken with age. Within the next two years it will darken considerably. They will never bee that dark, dark color that people associate with cherry, though. I like the idea that they will change over time.
I couldn't see the pictures but they appear when I quote you, Swimpy. So that's where the frig is going, huh? You'll get used to it being there, but I'm sorry it wasn't what you expected. Love the colors you've chosen. I think glass doors are great.
Can they use some of the cabinet "skin" to cover the side of the frig? You'll be covering the frig with magnets anyway, right?

Or they could paint the sides of the refrigerator in the
same sage color as the walls have.
What kind of (if any) handles have you chosen for
the cabinets Swimpy?
They are going to ship a panel that will cover most of the sides of the refrigerator. The carpenter's going to have to figure out a way to make it work and hide the seam. He's really good so I feel better about it today.
No handles on the cabinets. They routed finger slots in the edges of the doors. I wanted to keep everything clean and simple.
So today all of the uppers are in. (Pictures tomorrow.) They look amazing. I was worried that all those cabinets would overpower my little room, but they look like they've always been there.
I checked my kitchen and a) it's another one of those panels, same as my old kitchen, b) the fridge sits about 4 inches proud of the whole shebang. Hadn't particularly noticed, and that's the kind of thing I usually DO notice.
My fridge is all one color, though. Helps.
I asked around and apparently that's just the way it's done. Seems stupid to me. Why don't these cabinet makers get with the program? they need to make cabinets in the sizes that fdit today's appliances. <harumph!>
Totally.
Or make appliances that fit today's cabinets, which from Piffka's link are apparently exist but are way more expensive. <harumph!>
I just saw your new pix on my website, Swimpy, looks great!
Thanks for letting me park them there, K. I just put yesterday's pics there. brb.
These didn't turn out very well. The light was bad and the flash wasn't cooperating. But anyway... These photos are of the opposite wall from the previous photos.
This is the end wall. These cabinets will be above the banquet and will have glass fronts.
I just love the color of the cherry. This last photo answered something else I was curious about, too, how it would look with the floor. The answer seems to be "fantastic."
I just got home from work. All of the cabinets are in. All of the crown molding is on. The shelves are in the pantry. I'm so happy with how it's turning out. The room feels bigger than it did before. I think it's because the cabinets go all the way to the ceiling. I don't know if the countertop people got here today to measure. I hope so. That will speed the process along.
More pics tomorrow.
It looks very nice, and the sage green is such a calming
color - fits perfectly to the cabinets. You're going to have
tons of storage space as it looks like Swimpy
