Swimpy--

You have my sympathy. Transition is a very uncomfortable place to be, particularly when your routine is suspended and you live in a world where Mothers Do Not Have Problems.

Right, Osso. The joints between the sheets of drywall are taped and mudded. Mud covers the screwheads as well. The joints get successively wider layers of mud, but the field is not mudded.

Thanks for the sympathy, Noddy. I was having a bad day yesterday. I'm just a little impatient and missing my own cooking. A little self pity goes a long way. I'm better today.

I knew this would happen. Now that the kitchen is getting a facelift, I'm looking at the other rooms in the house. The living room will be painted, but I'm starting to think of replacing some of the older furniture. The loveseats must stay, but I've never had good end tables. I could use a couple of new chairs and an entertainment center. Stop me before I spend again!!!

Swimpy, I looked for a chastity belt for your wallet, but couldn't find one.

BBB, I think I need something more to stop the flow, if you know what I mean Wink

Piif, I like your uncle. I'm definitely going to buy some stuff for the living room. Got any ideas?

End tables sound good, especially if they'll hold a lot of books below. New lighting?

Why don't you post some pictures of the living room Swimpy,
then we all can play decorator Wink

I remember well the remodeling blues, you get emotionally
drained and eating out all the time becomes a nuisance.
Even I looked forward to cooking again.

Definitely need better lighting in the LR.

CJ, I'll post some pictures after the fridge and stove go back in the kitchen. The LR is a sight right now. BTW, what does your signature say?

The worst part of remodeling--even when the remodelers are family members--is the feeling that clutter and muddle have invaded the home and settled in for an unspecified duration.

I quiver, just remembering.

It is an old saying of Wilhelm Busch, a famous German
writer, cartoonist and poet - similar to Dr. Seuss I would say.

The saying is something like that: "Once the reputation is ruined, you can live nonchalantly thereafter".

I know what you mean, Noddy. I keep telling myself that it's almost over. This week was probably the end of the worst. Once the paint goes on and the floor is in, it will be clear sailing. Two more weeks, I can do it.

CJ, That's rich.

Is this the original then? I like it.

The walls all have a first coat. They look great. What a relief! i couldn't sleep last night worrying if I'd made a gigantic mistake.

Painting is done. I'm so happy with the way it turned out. The kitchen is just one shade lighter than the living room but you really don't notice until you look where the two colors meet. I took some pictures. I'll upload them tomorrow. I don't know if the floor guy can make it tomorrow. If not he'll be here Thursday.

The furniture is all out of place.

And here you can see the difference between the kitchen wall color on the right and the living room wall color on the left.

What's the refrigerator doing in the living room, you ask? Well, it's not so far to get a beer now!
