Well, it'd be tuesday, July 1st, after work. Maybe 6 to 9 ish? I know nothing about Seattle. Is there a place that's easy to get to by public transportation as well as excessable by car? I love brew pubs. Would be good to have it small-child friendly. Any place fit these specs that is also by the water/docks?
Ok, so we have (let me know where I'm wrong):
Wy
D'Art (probably)
Patiodog and patio"B" (I have such a hard time with that one)
I heard from Stoat who sounds like he will attend!
piffka? No, but maybe dinner en route back to Portland?
There was some talk about Pike Place Market. That's easy for public trans. and, that late in the day, there should be plenty of parking (because the Market itself will be closed). It's also near the water...

This map was posted earlier in this thread. You can see that the Elliot Bay Waterfront is right there, near the legend. If the place has a water view, we should be able to see the ferries, the Olympics, all that, and if we hang around long enough, the sunset...
Or wherever. I'm on public trans. myself, but anywhere is doable...
A gathering next summer sounds yummy. Too yummy to miss.
Next summer might work for me, too. My sister lives in Seattle, and I make it up there about every other year. Keep me posted on possible dates...
Wy, thanks! I'll be coming from the Ravenna/Bryant neighborhood (whereever that is). Still haven't heard back from my sister, b-in-l or friend about their suggestions.
Good lord, is that ALL Pike's Place?
Try to make it after June 30, 2004. I might be able to make it. c.i.
I would be at a next summer thing, if it isn't the exact first satuday of the month, same problem I have with the SF meeting. I can be there the next day....but not just before the first Sat. Oh, never mind.
On PaL, she expressed to both Pfk and I that she wants to concentrate on her dog training and wasn't interested in getting together. Both of us like her, and the lack of push to ask her has not been to exclude her...but really, once dates are set would be the time to ask. I really doubt if she would have wanted to go through two or more months worth of maybe this or that. She has also not posted on a2k recently that I know of.
On Lola not knowing about this topic, I didn't either, Lola, until recently and it is not from exclusion...it was just a feeler from Little K to the NW associates.....
She is only going to be in Seattle for mere seconds and is still working to meet at all.
It was not a general get together, and neither was the recent boston one, although some of us horned into the talk about it, and when I went to NY in April, via Seattle, only a couple of people knew, since my main focus was different. It was saner for me, first time there in decades. But next time I am in NY, I want us to all meet at the Plaza candy shop.
OK, or maybe the bar. Diane and I stopped at the candy shop when we checked out what the neat building was....and I left my umbrella there. Perfect place to leave an umbrella, no? We then met Roberta at Pierre au Tunnel in the theater district, on 47th, and I could only say that that would be good again....just after the theater groupies go to sit in their theaters....we had the great frenchie bistro to ourselves....
well, ne'er mind.
Hoping to meet most of y'all sometime.
Nuts, don't forget the nuts...
The cashews are opposite the donuts and a little farther down... I think they have other nuts there, but [homersimpson]mmmmm... cashews![/homersimpson]!
I also bought some earings there, and lost one of them shortly thereafter, thus throwing mucho dollars to the wind. It was in some sort of native craft shoppe on the floor above the main foray...
I have so many pairs like that I just wear two earrings (or three, or sometimes four) that I like, without insisting they match...
Wy thanks for the correction (PIKE) and the info!
from a realty website:
Quote:Ravenna / Bryant, Washington
The Ravenna-Bryant neighborhood is located just north of the University of Washington, and maintains a residency largely upper-middle class, though its roots are strictly blue collar. The University is a major neighborhood employer, with University affiliates as resident tenants and owners. The neighborhood's proximity to Interstate 5, however, opens it to a much larger employment base, with access to the downtown Seattle core.
The housing styles range from pre-Depression small Tudors, to bungalows and craftsman-style homes, to a modest number of newer construction interspersed throughout. Larger Tudors can be found on the hill, while at the lower elevations smaller homes, such as simple craftsman bungalows, are found. The eastern Lake Washington side of Ravenna-Bryant boasts view homes with mountain, territorial and cityscape views.
With its proximity to the University District, Ravenna-Bryant could be called an older 'walking neighborhood,' particularly with its access to the Burke-Gilman Trail, used by University employees year-round for commuting. Ravenna-Bryant has small neighborhood coffee shop areas, as well as the growing University Village shopping facility, which is increasingly becoming a destination point.
Ravenna Park is one of Seattle's oldest parks. It once had stands of fir that rivaled California's sequoias. All in all, Ravenna-Bryant is a very green neighborhood. Currently, a $6 million project is underway to restore Ravenna Creek-which has been underground in the sewer system for about half a century-and bring back spawning salmon from Lake Washington.
With you being near the UW and PD being at the UW, maybe the meeting place should be there, somewhere? University Village? Blue Moon Tavern?
Blue Moon definitely not child friendly. U-Village actually isn't so great for public transport.
Dad Watson's in Fremont might be a good bet -- depending on mom-and-dad's definition of child friendly, especially on a weeknight, but traffic sucks and the ongoing ruination of the Fremont neighborhood is quite frankly depressing. Hmmmm.... I'm a Ballardite myself, and haven't gone out around the U district in quite some time.
Other than than, I'll try and think of things that might work north of the ship canal, but I think downtown is prolly easier for everyone else involved.
Hi all,
Just lurking.
wish I could be there.
On the other hand, from Dad's it's an easy little walk to visit the troll...
that's a real volkswagen...
