@maxdancona,
Nice try max, but it will go nowhere.

Who should be allowed to post an dissenting opinion on which thread?

Anyone, of course
- In what circumstances is attacking the reasoning behind someone's argument acceptable?

Any
- In what circumstances is attacking someone's intelligence or worth as a human being acceptable?

None, as tempting as it may be
- Who decides which opinions are acceptable and which should not be expressed?

No one

But you knew the answers to each of these.

I have not read through the entire thread but I can't believe anyone has provided dissimilar answers. If they have the Asshole badge was made for them.

I figured that was likely. But I think the condemnation of Glitterbag's post is unwarranted.

She essentially said that my post was a bunch of nonsense. And she said it with a great deal of passion. But there really was no offensive name-calling in it.

When people disagree with me, I much prefer that people do so in the manner that she did in that post than have them hurl horrible insults at me.

I can live with people disagreeing with me. I am confident that any analysis of the facts will result in most of my posts being vindicated as correct.

Gimme the badge, eh, Finn? I disagree. Just to take an extreme example, I would, without qualm, attack the worth of a human being who sexually abused, then tortured, then killed small children.

Who wouldn't, I ax ya?

I could think of quite a few others, too, I expect.

Much of the thread is an off topic argument about Israel between me and Glennn.

In virtually every case, they are.
