I think you remember your italian better than I do.

La felicità è dependente di vedere Ossobuco.
Ho visto Ossobuco, sono felice.

(I've seen Ossobuco, I'm happy).

Your analysis is a pertinent one.

I'm pretty confused now.
I think perhaps you don't need to use stare with happy, so stia isn't correct either.

Third person present subjunctive of essere would be "sia" ..

It looks like things are getting a little bit confusing here. Maybe we should try to keep the entries a little simpler, so that we don't get all bogged down in trying to correct multiple mistakes.

Okay, screw it, I'm starting over.

La mia testa e' una scatola vuota.
(My head is an empty box.)

Ok, no grammar here.

Una scatola vuota e' un invitazione per Pandora.

(An empty box is an invitation for Pandora.)

Pandora e' una prostituta che lavora al angolo della tredicesima strada con la Seconda Avenue, vicino alla vecchia chiesa.

And what exactly does that mean?

I'll try -
Pandora is a prostitute who works at the (intersection) of Thirtieth Street with Second Avenue, near the old church.

angolo = corner

La vecchia chiesa era un edificio fatiscente.

The old church was a dilapidated building.

Very close, Osso, but it's thirteenth street. Thirtieth street would be trentesima (or something spelled almost like that).

Do you think it would be more fun--or more conducive to learning, which is my goal here, really--if we didn't translate them ourselves, and have the next poster translate it before they put theirs up?

Either way. I like having to translate it, myself.

Maybe someone who actually knows italian will wander by and straighten us all out...

perhaps Fran will do the honors some day. Or maybe Lukaas will stop by. I keep wanting to post to this thread, but my italian is way to pathetic to even try.

Il terremoto ha fatto crollare un edificio fatiscente in centro storico, ma la vecchia chiesa ha tenuto.

osso... l'edificio si è poggiato al colle alto.

Da più giovane mi piacevano i vini dei colli umbri.
