@ossobuco,
Thanks Osso. It's not my property. It's a field on the way up to the hills where I take my dog for a walk everyday:
We live down near that village by the reservoir. I walk about two miles up the lane from the village, turn left and then another half mile pretty much straight up. That's probably why only my dog will go with me on this walk
But I love that sort of light too. Yesterday started out sunny. I had planned to go down to the coast with my kids for mothering Sunday, but by the time we finished lunch, the sun had gone in and I knew that the light would be gone by the time we reached the ocean, having gotten such a late start- but still really dramatic and charged up there. The best time of day for photos up there is either before noon or after 4 (this time of year).
So I went up there and the colors just blew me away- that umber of the soil contrasted against that forbidding, but lit blue/grey of the sky.
I go up there everyday, so I'll take another shot - the light is much flatter today so I won't get the same contrast. I usually do instinctively do more of the golden triangle, but for this one I liked the starkness of the tree and the gentleness of the curved furrows that led to it- and that's where I wanted all the focus to go.
But you've got me curious now - I'll go up there today and reframe it.
