@aidan,
this is a road that cars drive on to travel over the mendips - but on this day, it was all minehttp://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k46/aidan_010/solitude.jpg

@aidan,
What's that black curvy line to the ridge, a hedge?

Gorgeous photo..

@ossobuco,
I'm guessing the road curves, osso, and it's a continuation of the stone fence. Beautiful photo!

@Tai Chi,
Thank you. Yes, that's an old- probably REALLY old dry stone wall. This stretch of the Mendips between Rodney Stoke and Priddy is just fields and has been fields, divided by these walls and hedges -for years and years and years. The Priddy fair has been held up there since the plague forced people to move it out of the nearby city of Wells in the fourteenth century.
I love it because it's nothing but me and my dog and the wind up there.

This is a little ways away from the snowy road - just a view to show you what it looks like without snow:

@aidan,
So, Aidan, I think I'm painting again, at least I'm making the moves re gathering of stuff. I don't want to put you nail to the wall online, but let me know by pm if you'd mind my painting re parts of your photos, with cred - which I would understand if you would mind.

@ossobuco,
I think you would love it up there Osso. It's the most peaceful place I know - it's a place I felt palbably and immediately at home. I go there almost every day.

@ossobuco,
Adds, I had a friend who is a long time painter use one of my photos and I felt odd (in that particular case I thought against doing that myself since the details were of the essence, and I'm not zoned to that kind of detail in painting). I tumbled that around for a while and then was glad she did it. But I understand other feelings.

@ossobuco,
Ok, gotcha.

On the color, it reminds me so much of the very northern california coast at some part of the day in part of the year.

@ossobuco,
Cool indeed. I think I left my camera set on the vivid blue setting. There's a blue cast to some of my snow shots.

Izzie, the snow in England pictures are beautiful! I especially like the ones with the lower third of the frame showing tree silhouettes.

@aidan,
That's my favorite kind of light, Aidan. Another marvelous photo.

Is that your property or easy to get to? I'd be interested in seeing the tree off center to the left, in the golden mean type proportion. Not that I don't love the central tree, I'm interested in the centrality.. just interested in seeing both.
