You answer criticism of Mr Bush by mentioning Clinton? You really are bankrupt.
Michael Moore's letter to George W. Bush
September 1, 2005
VACATION'S OVER: An Open Letter
Dear Mr. Bush:
Any idea where all our helicopters are? It's Day 5 of Hurricane Katrina and
thousands remain stranded in New Orleans and need to be airlifted. Where on
earth could you have misplaced all our military choppers? Do you need help
finding them? I once lost my car in a Sears parking lot. Man, was that a drag.
Also, any idea where all our national guard soldiers are? We could really
use them right now for the type of thing they signed up to do like helping
with national disasters. How come they weren't there to begin with?
Last Thursday I was in south Florida and sat outside while the eye of
Hurricane Katrina passed over my head. It was only a Category 1 then but it
was pretty nasty. Eleven people died and, as of today, there were still homes without power. That night the weatherman said this storm was on its way to New Orleans. That was Thursday! Did anybody tell you? I know you didn't want to interrupt your vacation and I know how you don't like to get bad news. Plus, you had fundraisers to go to and mothers of dead soldiers to ignore and smear. You sure showed her!
I especially like how, the day after the hurricane, instead of flying to Louisiana, you flew to San Diego to party with your business peeps. Don't let people criticize you for this -- after all, the hurricane was over and what the heck could you do, put your finger in the dike?
And don't listen to those who, in the coming days, will reveal how you specifically reduced the Army Corps of Engineers' budget for New Orleans this summer for the third year in a row. You just tell them that even if you hadn't cut the money to fix those levees, there weren't going to be any Army engineers to fix them anyway because you had a much more important construction job for them -- BUILDING DEMOCRACY IN IRAQ!
On Day 3, when you finally left your vacation home, I have to say I was moved by how you had your Air Force One pilot descend from the clouds as you flew over New Orleans so you could catch a quick look of the disaster. Hey, I know you couldn't stop and grab a bullhorn and stand on some rubble and act like a commander-in-chief. Been there, done that.
There will be those who will try to politicize this tragedy and try to use it against you. Just have your people keep pointing that out.
Respond to nothing. Even those pesky scientists who predicted this would happen because the water in the Gulf of Mexico is getting hotter and hotter making a storm
like this inevitable. Ignore them and all their global warming Chicken Littles. There is nothing unusual about a hurricane that was so wide it would be like having one F-4 tornado that stretched from New York to Cleveland.
No, Mr. Bush, you just stay the course. It's not your fault that 30 percent of New Orleans lives in poverty or that tens of thousands had no transportation to get out of town. C'mon, they're black! I mean, it's not like this happened to Kennebunkport. Can you imagine leaving white people on their roofs for five days? Don't make me laugh! Race has nothing - NOTHING -- to do with this!
You hang in there, Mr. Bush. Just try to find a few of our Army helicopters and send them there. Pretend the people of New Orleans and the Gulf Coast are near Tikrit.
Yours,
Michael Moore
Oh great... are we going to spam the entire site with this letter to Bush now?
All these clinton issues has already been brought up and debunked on the IF...thread on page three.
I read that letter from Micheal Moore this morning, makes you realize why he won an award for his documentary.

McTag, I have been here less than 24 hours and here is what I've learned,
1. There is absolutely nothing that can't be blamed on Clinton. Regardless of the fact that Bush has been in power for 4+ years, it remains Clintons fault.
2. Bush, although in power for 4+ years, has absolutely no culpability. Bush is not responsible for any of his decisions. Bush is not responsible for anything that has gone wrong during his reign because it really is Clinton's fault. Bush, while running 350-500B dollar annual deficits, and spending 300B on a war which has installed an Islamic Theocracy, is not responsible for any of it. Everything Bush has done is really Clintons fault.
That's what I've learned since I've been here.
The lefties cannot dispute the facts, so they keep building more and more strawmen.
lastmoderate wrote:You say Louisana should take responsibility for their levee system. You in your enlightenment, ignore the fact that the Louisana National Guard is in Iraq, not due to return until October. Likewise, the equipment that they would use in Lousiana is in Iraq, and weren't scheduled to get it back until much later.
Try rereading what I've written, lastmoderate (if that is your real name), this time with an eye for detail. I said Louisiana should have taken responsibility for its levee system before the hurricane hit. I'm not talking about the La NG. What would the NG have done to improve the levee system if they weren't in Iraq? Nothing.
What are you moderate about? From what I can tell by your brief time here, it appears you are quite virulent in your anti-Bush/pro-Clinton, anti-conservative/pro-liberal rhetoric. I've you tagged as a left-wing extremist. We'll see.
Quote:The reason you can't see it is because you are just another extremist right wing fanatic. I am no particular fan of Clinton, so tough luck buddy, you can't say I'm out to protect Clinton.
For not being a fan of his, you sure seem to leap to his defense easily, and with an extreme reaction. What was your motivation in doing so if not to protect him?
Quote:I am a moderate, which means I look at both sides of the question, something you have shown an inability to do.
Still waiting to see moderation from you.
Quote:His most oustanding feat being the installation of an Islamic Theocracy in Iraq, which is extremely close to Iran. Take a look at the new Iraqi constitution and read how Islam is now the law of the land. Iran is tickled pink with it's new Shiite partnership, That stroke of genius has cost us 300B, 1800 plus dead, and filled our hospitals with wounded military. His pipedream about giving the Iraqi's freedom and democracy is yet another major fubar by this administrations brilliant thinktank.
Yes, I can tell you're a moderate.

You've seen this before? I apologise. The early bird catches the worm- but it's the second mouse that gets the cheese.
Some things are worth seeing more than once. How many times have you read the
Gettysburg Address?

I'll just pretend you didn't compare a letter from Micheal Moore to the Gettysburg Address.
Ticomaya. Show me ONE statement that I have defended Clinton. Just ONE.
You keep saying, "if it is really your name". What is that suppose to mean. Of course it's not my real name. Your a little daft if you think I'm going to use my real name here.
You call me a liberal extremist. Point out one thing I have said that is a liberal platform item.
Just because I can observe that George Bush is a liar and a moron doesn't make me a liberal. There are many conservatives who happen to agree with me as well, including leaders in the Republican Party. Are they liberal extremists as well?
Like I said. You have this particular itch that George Bush scratches for you. Because of that itch, you don't give a rats ass what stupidity he exercises, just as long as he keeps scratching that itch you have.
You can't even see the difference between 10B and several million dollars. Well, I'm glad that itch that Bush is scratching for you is making so happy, because his actions just cost you 10B.
News Flash: I just saw a head guy with the Corps of Engineers say that the place the levee broke was the last place they expected to be breached. Had the government allocated three times the funds that were voted, none of them would have been used at the place where the levee broke.
News Flash: The mayor of New Orleans is no Rudy Guiliani. There were fleets of busses he could have commandeered to get the people out of harms way and he did nothing. Now there are stories that some enterprising folks have stolen some school busses and city busses to haul people to Texas.
News Flash: droves of police officers are refusing to rise to meet their duty. They are turning in their badges and joining the refugees. So much for the concept of 'protect and serve'.
Okay people. Let's see you twist these three things to blame the president.
Ticomaya wrote:lastmoderate wrote:D'artagnan wrote:Oh, I'm so outraged at the very notion of W on Mt. Rushmore!
(Actually, given the current situation at home and around the world, it's kind of an amusing notion...)
Laughable. I thought they wanted Reagan up there too. It's too funny, and I can see it now. Good old W, the Howdy Doody of Mad magazine. "What, me worry"? I love it. The only real decision is whether to use the image of Howdy Doody or Alfred E. Newman. They both apply all so well.
Yeah, you're a moderate.
I just think it's horribly stupid to think of messing with a national monument, no matter whose face it is you want to add. I consider that to be very moderate. What fool changes a long term national monument. If you want to create a national monument with the Bushes, Ronald Reagan, go create one. Just don't mess with one that exists.
If it was so stupid, why did you want to put Howdy Doody or Alfred E. Newman up there?

Could I see your source on that please. What I've read is the following:
http://www.thedenverchannel.com/news/4923958/detail.html
A year ago, this very scenario was forecast. Where was George?
Foxfyre wrote:If it was so stupid, why did you want to put Howdy Doody or Alfred E. Newman up there?
To show you through sarcasm how stupid it really is. Listen, if you want a national monument to the current heros of the Republican Party, go do it. You've got Republicans accress the board now, funding should be no problem. Start a petition and have congress build you a monument.
To Moderate: Hey I didn't say put Howdy Doody up there. You did. And with no smiley face either. If you're going to take us literally when we are being obviously tongue-in-cheek (at least to us), you have to expect to be taken literally too..
So far as source, I can't source what I see on TV, but there is nothing in that article to dispute what the Corps of Engineers representative said.

Your comparison of Moore's letter with the Gettysburg Address qualifies as the most ridiculous thing I've seen on A2K today. Congratulations, McT.

I'll believe that when I see it in writing. I also want to see who was saying it, not "some guy". I heard some guy say that you were a homosexual. That must make it true, right?
It's hard to tell when you are talking "tongue-in-cheek" when just about everything that comes out of you mouth sounds like it should be "tongue-in-cheek".
No matter how well sourced, I doubt you would believe anything you didn't want to believe Moderate, and you're willing to believe anything negative about the GOP, about George Bush, or anything favored by the Right even if you have to make it up. Obviously.

Show me one thing I've said about Bush, or the Bush Administration that isn't true.
