LOLLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLHEEHAW!!!!!!!

My goodness - such a sight to wake to!!

Blatham - I hasten to say that the only portion of your fair country visited by moi has been, in fact, Montreal and Quebec city, and portions of country-side on the twin train routes from New York City to Montreal, Montreal to Quebec, and back again. I know only your bi-cultural bits.

Though, I confess, the clinging to Frenchness of the French Canadians did have in it something of sadness, given that I feel the French are by no means clinging back...

They are front clingers.

There was a lovely moment of French-Canadianness when Pierre Trudeau (probably as new PM, though perhaps as Justice Minister) was first meeting the Queen. A very public occasion with cameras all about. As the Queen turned and walked ahead, Trudeau moved to follow, but threw in a graceful pirouette right behind her as he did so.

I recall Trudeaumania!

Our PM touched the royal back when ushering the queen about.

Brit tabloid press got very upset.

Publishing the royal desire to be a tampon - yes
Ushering royal bod - no

I would make jokes, but most of the Brit penny dreadful newspapers seem to be owned or run by Australians, so I cannot!

For those of you who may be friends of Debacle, be advised there is a special party in his honour:

And here it is! Debacle's THIRD abuzziversary thread!!

Come and celebrate with the man who helped make Abuzz the wonder that it was at its best, and still graces its halls and common rooms with his presence.

He came, he has a number of posts here, and tragically, in my view, withdrew.

He remains playable with on Abuzz to some extent - can usually be found on digression threads there, at least - and once found there, his footprints may be traced wherever else he goes.

They are always worth following.

Aa may be found there, too. Ridinghood seems to have disappeared, though she and Aa both tried the waters here. It seems the waters disagreed with them, to our loss.

Regaring Debacl and the Buzz move or not to move, its funny, some make the move effortlessly, others less so and some not at all.

I must confess I took a bit of getting used to the new environment and dabbled a bit until I got used to things a bit and found various empathetic individuals and threads that appealed to my sense of the surreal and hysteria. The time difference has always been a pain as most of the people I dug on Abuzz where on US or Canadian time, now I have found a few Oz chums its really screwed me ! Oh well it's a luverly day ehre, the yellow thing is in the sky, I have a long walk planned plus a sesh at the gym.

But I digress, what is the price of cheese please in Chile today ?

That'll do Very Happy

Gratin of Tiger Prawns with Chilli & Cheese

Ingredients...
200 gm bag raw tiger prawns (shell on)
2 small red onions, peeled & finely sliced
2 cloves garlic, peeled & crushed
2 fresh red chillis, deseeded & finely chopped
2 tbsps olive oil
10 fl oz double cream
3 oz fontina, grated
juice 1 lime
few drops of tabasco
salt & pepper
2-4 gratin dishes, buttered

Peel & devein the prawns.

Place in a bowl and sprinkle with lime juice & tabasco. Toss then leave to marinate for about 15 mins.

Meanwhile heat the oil in a frying pan and lightly cook the onions for about 3 mins. Add the garlic and chillis and cook for 2-3 mins more. Divide between the four dishes.

Drain the prawns and divide between the dishes. Season with salt and pepper.

Pour over the cream and scatter the cheese over the top.

Preheat grill to very hot. Put the dishes on a baking tray under the grill about 4" down for about 5-6 mins until the prawns turn pink and the cheese is golden and bubbly.

Enjoy Very Happy

Hm, what's a double cream? Is it like an extra fat sour cream? And how do I fit the plates UNDER the grill? Soooo puzzled and intrigued. As soon as I know I shall try it out!

In Oz -and, I guess in the UK, most cream is somewhat thinned and thickened with some sort of thickening thingy - double cream is very high milk-fat cream.

Our gorillas are easy to put things under - many are in the oven itself - mine is, with the dearest little setting that enables me to gorill with the door closed, so I may cook other things as well.

I do not recall what cream and gorillas are like in the USA.

The wonders of modern science never cease to amaze and appal.

What shall be next?
