blatham - is this your clutch then?
Clutch?? I just watched Lost in Translation, and now I'm wondering if you are derogating theism.
She's referring to the small, strapless purse you carry when you are in the full-dress regalia of scarlet coat at official receptions and such like, Mr. Mountie.
hehehehehehe
after i posted i was having a vision of mr. blatham sitting on a small clutch of red-shelled eggs
hehehehehehehe
Damn - I ain't allowed to tell anyone else yet - so I will tell you folk.
My dear friend - Helen - who some of you know had treatment for breast cancer two years ago - was discovered to have a large, new, cancer in her other breast on Thursday. Bone scans today.
We are hoping it is a new cancer, not a secondary of the previous one (if it is, it is untreatable - 'tisn't hormone sensitive - I mean, palliative radiation, or something, would be possible, I hope???) - but it is already big, so, if it is new, and there are no secondaries on scan, she is facing the decision about chemo and such. And - she was meeting with folk about a new, contract job that she was really looking forward to on the day she found out.
I am a big goil, so I won't try the dumb stuff about why do bad things happen to good people and such - and at least I am so used to the whole scene, through life, and work, that I am her "medical procedure, chemo and facing it like it is" friend - but man it sucks.
It's kinda easier when horrible **** happens to you than to people you love, eh?
Well, mebbe not - (rubs foot)

deb...just saw of your friend's condition after I posted...sorry.
Deb, I'm sorry to hear about your friend, Helen. The best of luck to her. I hope it's not a secondary cancer, too.
Seemingly not. Phew....
Don't stop having fun, folks!
That's a fascinating article, Blatham.
I have gone over to the dark side.
Tonight I swore (one word only, and one I use frequently - but nonetheless a swear word) at a staff member from my credit union who told me that, if anyone used one of the cheques from the new cheque book which was mailed out to me on 13/7, and never arrived, and it was presented to the credit union and refused (as one hopes it would be without my correct signature) that I would be charged $40 for each cheque.
They have changed their mind on this matter - but I still wish I had not sworn.
deb, damn that's f*cked up!
swearing, or charging? - or trying to....
the charging part of course is stupid to be sure, but swearing at a mid to low level employee for following company policy is bad form too.
having a bad day?. it seems out of character for you. maybe it's the political season...........
Yes, it IS out of character. I DESPISE people who are rude to folk who cannot easily answer back - only in Oz they do anyway! But this is no excuse.
Well, either I am evil now, or 'tis the 'orrible mess I have returned to at my normal job that is getting to me. I am absorbing untold heaps of crap in trying to sort things out there - but still 'tis no excuse.
Aaaaaaaargh!
i understand, blowing off steam once in a while is good, as long as it's once in a while.........
and no, you're not evil, considering your occupation, you are far from it.
i hope tomorrow's a better day.........
