Lord, Setanta - you have quite affrighted me, for my father used to misquote that line in almost the exact same way!!!!!!!!!! I grew up on that line! I feared my father had returned to life!

Only he used to say "How much sharper than a serpent's tooth is the tongue of an ungrateful child".

I do not think I WAS especially ungrateful, as it happens - so I have always had a real symapthy for Goneril and Regan!

How very boorish of me, and i've tried all my life to use the correct quote, and keep using the one i first learned, instead . . .

Lol! Indeed! I recall that one sooooo correctly because, when I first read it, at school, I kept it to correct my father the next time he tried that one. It was a moment of moment. He never tried that one again - and it marked a shift of some sort....

I always felt sorry for poor Cordelia, who truly did love the old lunatic . . . i've scant regard for Reagan and Goneril . . .

And by the by, i've always felt that way about "the stuff that dreams are made on . . . " which means something significantly different than implied in the misquote . . .

Goneril sounds too much like VD, and Regan...too ex-presidential....King Lear should be updated to appeal to our younger demographic. Hmm...how about....okay, stay with me, and try to think (making quote signs with his hands)....outside the box for a seccy, k? Here it is:

There are definitely dumpsters in Hampstead - but I don't know about Dumpstead (or Bumstead). In fact, when I was last there - the whole suburb seemed to be undergoing a massive renovation, and there appeared to be more dumpsters than cars. Certainly there were more dumpsters than parking spaces.

I did not, however, see any glazed rabbits, with either chablis or Portuguese red, although there may have been some cruising boys. But then I wasn't on the Heath, where either sightings were more likely.
