No, Blatham, thank you kindly, our rabbit has NOT been slathered with some some toxic mix of varnish and pork fat.

Welcome, Graham - just join in - sooner or later it will all make sense, or not. Hopefully you will enjoy it anyway.

With that signature line, I suspect you will fit right in...

So, basically, oh thou Glazed Coney, yer sayin' that it is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

And rounded with a sleep, too, i see . . . Ah, but there's the rub, for in that sleep of death what dreams may come when we have shuffled off this mortal coil . . .

Let not the jibes of these peasants offend thee, Thou Most Erudite Bunny, for as the bard says elsewhere . . .

Oh how sharper than a serpent's tooth is the tongue of an ungrateful child . . .

Lord, Setanta - you have quite affrighted me, for my father used to misquote that line in almost the exact same way!!!!!!!!!! I grew up on that line! I feared my father had returned to life!

Only he used to say "How much sharper than a serpent's tooth is the tongue of an ungrateful child".

I do not think I WAS especially ungrateful, as it happens - so I have always had a real symapthy for Goneril and Regan!

How very boorish of me, and i've tried all my life to use the correct quote, and keep using the one i first learned, instead . . .

Ahem . . .

"How sharper than a serpent's tooth it is to have a thankless child."

Lol! Indeed! I recall that one sooooo correctly because, when I first read it, at school, I kept it to correct my father the next time he tried that one. It was a moment of moment. He never tried that one again - and it marked a shift of some sort....

I always felt sorry for poor Cordelia, who truly did love the old lunatic . . . i've scant regard for Reagan and Goneril . . .

And by the by, i've always felt that way about "the stuff that dreams are made on . . . " which means something significantly different than implied in the misquote . . .

Thoughts from a Hollywood producer:

Goneril sounds too much like VD, and Regan...too ex-presidential....King Lear should be updated to appeal to our younger demographic. Hmm...how about....okay, stay with me, and try to think (making quote signs with his hands)....outside the box for a seccy, k? Here it is:

KING LEAR TO THE MAX! WAR, STRIFE, EXPLOSIONS! Coming soon to a theatre near you....(merchandise availible at the concession stand)

Hmm, another thought....the two evil sisters, ergo my first comment, we should change their names to...let's think now...Muff and Dive, and they could be hot, and have superpowers...then they could kick Ophelia's ass...and maybe a giant robot spider...

Blatham

There are definitely dumpsters in Hampstead - but I don't know about Dumpstead (or Bumstead). In fact, when I was last there - the whole suburb seemed to be undergoing a massive renovation, and there appeared to be more dumpsters than cars. Certainly there were more dumpsters than parking spaces.

I did not, however, see any glazed rabbits, with either chablis or Portuguese red, although there may have been some cruising boys. But then I wasn't on the Heath, where either sightings were more likely.

Graham - just hop in and :ribbit: - what's to understand. I can't quote any Shakespeare Confused

Margo:-

Th' expense of sprit in a waste of shame
Is lust in action; and, till action, lust
Is perjured, murd'rous, bloody, full of blame,
Savage, extreme, rude, cruel, not to trust,
Enjoyed no sooner but despised straight,
Past reason hunted, and, no sooner had,
Past reason hated, as a swallowed bait
On purpose laid to make the taker mad;
Mad in pursuit, and in possession so;
Had, having and in quest to have, extreme;
A bliss in proof, and proved, a very woe;
Before, a joy proposed; behind, a dream.
All this the world well knows, yet none knows well
To shun the heaven that leads men to this hell.

Not half bard is it - good old Wills Very Happy

Poor King Lear.
Abused by his father and mother before him,
Accused of being ungrateful,
And so he was.
Even the mightest was once a kinder,
And so he was. Very Happy
