Single cell organisms have no need for a tiny heaven, since they are, in a sense, immortal.

Remember, they re-produce via fission - replicating their genetic material, and dividing into an identical organism - on and on and on.....

Surely some of those cells die before they themselves have the opportunity to divide. And what of unicellular organisms that exchange genetic material via conjugation? They become unique individuals, and they may perish before division. Are they consigned to some petri plate in purgatory to pass a parcel of years?

What? Is the eternal fate of these humble organisms of no concern to you? Do you think they should just be scraped off with the rest of the detritus and forgotten about? You, my friend, are a multicellulist!

They live on - their little atoms are gathered up by the Eternal Recycler and mixed with the greatest care to form new entities, with reverence and love...

Umm - my computer is refusing to start up a lot suddenly - and giving me weird error messages, and fatal exceptions and such.

Just in case it crashes, if I disappear suddenly for a bit, that is likely to be what caused the disappearance.

It tells me it has no virus, and I will scandisk it again while I am at work today, but just letting you all know....
