Nobel prize-worthy consolidated findings seem to be taught here by some - I'll take that chance and immatriculate/inscribe as a student on this thread.

You mean a seat besides you - or one as another professor?
(I'd like the first idea most, although in that case I can foresee a "forced exmatriculation" )

Oh, here beside me as student.

We have had Tom Van Flan referenced, I would imagine Richard Hoagland will be next.

Can't wait.

It is postulated that glaciers covered the northern latitudes to the depth of a mile deep and more.
The Great lakes and the Finger Lakes of New York State were created by glaciers.
It is speculated that the sheer weight of the Ice pile actually caused the solid crust(of the earth) to sink where the American Great Lakes currently lie.

Those silly geologists, where do they get such ideas?!

FROM THE EVIDENCE!

Getting from the situation you describe to our present situation is a large-scale change.

The big question is, did man CAUSE that change. Did neanderthals and ancient humans smoking cigars and driving SUVs cause it?

If they DIDN'T, then we have to face the fact that such changes occur despite and unaided by any activity of humans.

In particular, if such a change were to occur as to bring us back to the conditions of the hypsothermal, and you might want to look that up on google, we might all have to learn to swim better than we presently do or, at least, anybody living on the coastal areas of the US. The idea, if that were to happen, would be to get rid of some of the water; we have more than we need.

gunga, elevating signivicant portions of water to orbit would require far to much energy to be plausible. Just look at how expensive it is to place even a single satelite in orbit. We would have to come up with more rocketfuel than the amount of water we wanted to launch, and that would be impossible.

Nobody is contesting that major climatechanges happen without human interferense, the question is wether we anything we do influences it. Science is al about understanding how things work, so you can make them work to your advantage. The general scientific comunity is convinced that greenhouse gasses influense global weather, and frankly I see no reason to question them.

If you recognise that the eaths climate changes, why do you think it would be easier to launch the oceans into orbit than to manipulate those processes that control the earths climate?

I'm not claiming we have the ability to do that NOW. We don't NEED it now.

I am claiming that I believe we will have such capabilities in another 20 years, but NOT if we go back to the horse and buggy age as many of the envirowhacks would have us do.

Funny thing is, when people talk about pollution, they conveniently leave out a form of pollution which has become rare over the last 100 years. Imagine a large city like NY or London, in which you could not take five steps in a straight line without stepping in horseshit...

If, as many are now starting to think, our climate changes are related to periodic fluxuations in the output of our sun, then there is probably no chance of us exerting any influence on the planet's climate. As I noted, I think there IS a chance in the near future, of getting rid of some of the excess water.

Let's let gunga describe the sequence of events that might allow a transfer of oceans from Mars to Earth.

Has anybody else on A2K tried to keep up with the stuff the probes have been sending back from Mars for the last 6 years?

Basically, aside from all the images of mechanical junk and debris and what not which we see in the Spirit probe photos, you've got pictures of megalithic structures, villages, rows of rectangular structures with terracing, city street structures, several images of human faces meant to be seen from off planet, and God knows what all else. Very obviously, some sort of a catastrophe ruined the planet after it had been inhabited for a long period of time. To me at least, it just isn't that difficult to picture whatever did that also dumping that planet's oceans onto this planet.

5-Sided D&M pyramid from Cydonia region of Mars.

Gunga, you are a freaking RIOT!!! I actually thought people like you were only a figment of my own psychosis, but in the immortal words of Bob's first psychyatrist. . . I'M FREE!!!! I'M FREE!!!! I'M FREE!!!!! (From "What about Bob" with Bill Murry)

You are using links frome Rense??? HAHAHAHAHAHA, well since you perscribe to their site as factual, maybe you could explain this one.

Can't you look at the world rationally? Or do you have to go off and start googling things that agree with your obvious false grip on reality. A little hint for you, if you see it on rense, or other conspiracy/christian/right wing sites, it's BS. These sights are made to do exactly what they are doing, fool the uneducated American public. You should be pissed off at the administration for abusing you like a little red headed step child, but instead, you agree with it, oh well, some will never learn.

I hate to be the one to break it to you, (in a whisper tone) but not everything on the internet is true. Just as you used rense for a "source" for your non-physical ideas, your alternative view on reality is truly frightening. It just goes to show you the power of propaganda, and it's uses.

Your views on Mars are devoid of ANY evidence, you just believe, you just "have faith". It's very scary indeed to think people who believe crap like this are running my country. Gunga, you should go out on the front lines for Bush, I think he needs you, hell I think all of America needs you. Continue on with the fight, because the RNC needs people like you to promote their viewpoint. Write to papers, talk to people, tell everyone you know how great Bush is, then slide in your little "theory" on Mars and the Earth coming close together.

Actually, if I ever decide to write a thesis on the effects of propaganda on the American population, can I use you as my case study? You have all the markings of a 100% believe anything you read, right wing Bush backer. It was because of scary people like yourself I abandoned the right wing.

Crappy logic.

First of all, you're not going to ship any amount of water from the earth to anywhere... not only is it retarded from a physics standpoint, it's completely unneccesary.

Second, just because the sun plays a large factor in climate fluctuations does not mean that our presence cannot exacerbate said situation.

Please, leave the junk science out of the politics room...

How about if you see it on everybody's web site including NASA's?

I mean, who other than NASA has been up there taking pictures of Mars up close?? Basically all of these pictures you see around the net are NASA images.
