If it works out to a "first strike", lets think about fully arming the S Koreaqns with NIKE ZEUS's and let THEM decide.

I assume you mean arm the South Koreans with offensive nuclear weapons?

That would require killing the Non-proliferation Treaty. Ending the Non-Proliferation Treaty will lead to the spread of nuclear weapons around the world, and will likely not turn out to be in American interests.

farmerman wrote:
Your(and gooey's) light thinking will lead to WWIII as a definite possibility.

Characterizing the nuclear war between the US and North Korea as WWIII is a bit of an exaggeration.

Regardless though, your accusation is inaccurate. This nuclear war is a definite possibility because of North Korea's aggression. All my proposals do is minimize the death and destruction that we and our allies will suffer.

farmerman wrote:
However if we fully arm both sides and send them info about MAD, maybe they will come to respect each other a bit more.

Killing the Non-Proliferation Treaty and placing nukes directly in South Korean hands would have interesting possibilities, but the end of the Non-Proliferation Treaty will very likely lead to a world much less favorable to United States interests. Probably a bad idea on balance.

Not at all. The purpose of smashing North Korea with an overwhelming nuclear strike is to minimize the damage that they can do to our allies.

I doubt that any Republican senators favor allowing nuclear attacks on American cities.

The hosts of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” said on Monday that the White House counselor Kellyanne Conway complained extensively about President Trump in private conversations with them before he was elected.

Mika Brzezinski said during Monday’s broadcast that she heard Ms. Conway denounce the candidate in private after promoting him on television.

“She would get off the air, the camera would be turned off, the microphone would be taken off, and she would say ‘Blech, I need to take a shower,’ because she disliked her candidate so much,” Ms. Brzezinski said of Ms. Conway.

Joe Scarborough, Ms. Brzezinski’s co-host and fiancé, echoed the statements, saying that Ms. Conway said after being interviewed that she had only taken the job for money and that she would soon be done defending Mr. Trump.

“ ‘But first I have to take a shower, because it feels so dirty to be saying what I’m saying,’ ” Ms. Brzezinski added, mocking what the hosts said was Ms. Conway’s attitude at the time. “I guess she’s just used to it now.”
NYT

So, Conway grasps to some degree that her behavior is morally and intellectually equivalent to wading through the **** in a sewer.

But the money is really good, so she'll do it.

They hate her so much I wouldn't be surprised if this was all a complete lie in order to foster dissention between her and Trump. More fake news.

Trump revealed highly classified info to Russian diplomats in meeting

President Trump revealed highly classified information to the Russian foreign minister and ambassador in a White House meeting last week, according to current and former U.S. officials, who said that Trump’s disclosures jeopardized a critical source of intelligence on the Islamic State.

The information Trump relayed had been provided by a U.S. partner through an intelligence-sharing arrangement considered so sensitive that details have been withheld from allies and tightly restricted even within the U.S. government, officials said.

The partner had not given the United States permission to share the material with Russia, and officials said that Trump’s decision to do so risks cooperation from an ally that has access to the inner workings of the Islamic State. After Trump’s meeting, senior White House officials took steps to contain the damage, placing calls to the CIA and National Security Agency.

“This is code-word information,” said a U.S. official familiar with the matter, using terminology that refers to one of the highest classification levels used by American spy agencies. Trump “revealed more information to the Russian ambassador than we have shared with our own allies.”

The revelation comes as Trump faces rising legal and political pressure on multiple Russia-related fronts. Last week, he fired FBI Director James B. Comey in the midst of a bureau investigation into links between the Trump campaign and Moscow. Trump’s subsequent admission that his decision was driven by “this Russia thing” was seen by critics as attempted obstruction of justice.

One day after dismissing Comey, Trump welcomed Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Ambassador Sergey Kislyak — a key figure in earlier Russia controversies — into the Oval Office. It was during that meeting, officials said, that Trump went off script and began describing details about an Islamic State terrorist threat related to the use of laptop computers on aircraft.

@farmerman,
The info Trump shared was so classified WH officials contacted CIA and NSA right after it happened. Washington Post has the info but for purposes of national security, they are not sharing as government officials asked them not to share it. Apparently, they can keep a secret better than Trump. He needs to resign. He is incompetent imbecile.

What needs to happen is to start prosecuting these reporters for receiving classified material and jail them in the interim until they give up the piece if **** who is leaking it.

If in fact any of this is true...unnamed sources again no doubt.

@jcboy,
Here's the thing, just because the WH says our idiot didn't reveal sources or methods doesn't mean the Russian foreign minister or their Ambassador can't figure it out. Does anybody truly think the Russians are incompetent when it comes to Intell gathering. It's very likely people will lose their lives based on Trumps inability to keep a ******* secret. He Has to show the Russians how smart and crafty he is. Apparently the info hasn't even been completely shared with our closest allies, are you shitting me????? We have had close and vital relationships with allies and in one giddy blowhard moment, that horses ass proved he can't be trusted. He is so reckless it boggles the mind. He uses Intell reports like Access Hollywood crap or that stupid TMZ show (I think that's what they call it). The one where Harvey somebody gossips with a bunch of smarmy 20 somethings who are pleased to know and share pictures of Miley Cyrus picking her nose or share other weighty issues. God help us.

Yup...just as I thought it was all a ******* lie...more fake news.

All the people in the room with Trump deny the account of "unnamed" sources. And all you silly cheese heads bought it hook line and sinker.

Time to start bringing legal action against lying irresponsible media scum.

Guess that "bag" above feels real stupid now huh? But then she's probably used to it.

Yeah, John, this leak supposedly came from "current and former U.S. officials."

"Former" officials? How the hell would they know in the first place?

Even if he did this (which he denies), even Wapo, after going on for many paragraphs acting like it would be a major crime, admits that "as president, Trump has broad authority to declassify government secrets, making it unlikely that his disclosures broke the law."

He has the right to declassify info if he wants.

Quote:
He did not reveal the specific intelligence-gathering method, but he described how the Islamic State was pursuing elements of a specific plot and how much harm such an attack could cause under varying circumstances.

Russia and the United States both regard the Islamic State as an enemy and share limited information about terrorist threats.

And if these anonymous sources were really so concerned about leaks, then why would they give a public newspaper classified details?

Quote:
The Post is withholding most plot details, including the name of the city, at the urging of oThe Post is withholding most plot details, including the name of the city, at the urging of officials who warned that revealing them would jeopardize important intelligence capabilities..

First they supposedly say" ... the urging of officials who warned that revealing them would jeopardize important intelligence capabilities," and then, in the next breath, these "concerned officials" supposedly tell every damn thing they claim to know to a newspaper, including info which "jeoparidzes intelligence capacities."

"Withholding, eh? You can bet everybody and his brother at that rag have the (false) details to regale their buddies with.

National Security Advisor McMasters and Sec. of State say Washington Post is full of **** (my words)...but then we already knew that.

We saw all the media scum screaming the fake news lies but do you see them now trumpeting the truth? Of course not...******* cheese heads all.

As far as I'm concerned given the blatant lies perpetrated on the idiot public I suggest we no longer allow irresponsible "reporters" to publish about the president unless their source is named. Their transparent agenda even a blind man with a cane can see.

Russia would NEVER warn us of a potential terrorist attack, eh?

Quote:
The Congressional Joint Inquiry into 9-11 is now finished, but the findings that have been released fail to mention any warnings from foreign governments. The US mainstream media also has paid little attention to warnings from foreign governments.

Russian President Vladimir Putin publicly stated that he ordered his intelligence agencies to alert the US in the summer of 2001 that suicide pilots were training for attacks on US targets. [Fox News, 5/17/02] The head of Russian intelligence also stated, “We had clearly warned them” on several occasions, but they “did not pay the necessary attention.” [Agence France-Presse, 9/16/01] The Russian newspaper Izvestia claimed that Russian intelligence agents knew the participants in the attacks, and: “More than that, Moscow warned Washington about preparation for these actions a couple of weeks before they happened.” [Izvestia, 9/12/02]
