I personally wish that they would bring back Katrina Pierson and let her be the spokesperson. She'd be as entertaining as Spicer, but with more edge, and higher probability of an on -air meltdown.

@jcboy,
Cripes. Gadzooks!
Diane and I talked today, she driving, about the use of euphemisms in place of actual swearing, she being the more genteel of us longtime friends. Well, hey, I'm older by something like a year and a half. I don't remember her mate, Bob, aka Dys, as being carefully temperate, but he also didn't swing swearing words all about in some kind of shower. Roger? maybe you remember the same, or not? Also, Dys had close friends by phone and net who might disagree. I don't mean this riff to be invasive.
Diane, though, is a lady, as Dys said.

Someone could start an euphemism thread...

@georgeob1,
Quote:
Nonsense. Overthrowing the Assad Government is a goal : terrorism is a method. The two are different things and not comparable.

Quote:
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) defines terrorism as “the unlawful use of force or violence against persons or property to intimidate or coerce a government, the civilian population, or any segment thereof, in furtherance of political or social objectives.”

And you all sit silent while this know-nothing or much worse, this prevaricator on a grand scale spews his nonsense.

Such rank perfidy, george, so typical of you and your fellow travelers.

@giujohn,
Quote:
Tell it to the parents of the kids that died by serin gas.

Or the 500,000 thousand Iraqi children and the hundreds of thousands of Iraqi adults who the US/UK murdered in the 1990s.

Quote:
You wouldn't know terrorism if it chopped off your ******* head..

Yes, the USA has done much of that too in its long and sordid terrorist history.

@ossobucotemp,
I seem to have the impression that Bob's swearing was carefully premeditated. I get to be off topic, too.

@georgeob1,
Stop making up phony excuses, george. You are an coward of epic proportions, never willing to engage in any intellectual discourse. You flee immediately upon hearing anything that doesn't agree with your nonsensical world view, which I might add exhibits those very things that makes the US so evil.

Huh, why would the Federal Govt be involved in fixing water pipes in Flint?

The Obama Administration never cared about the people of Flint:

But Trump might care.

The Federal Government shouldn't have any business taking care of what the state or municipality should be taking care. Does everyone now just ignore infrastructure problems because Uncle Sam will fix it then?

So should there be any federal environmental standards?

What message is Trump going to send Putin?

The message done been sent. That airbase was shared by Russian planes, too.

We warned Putin beforehand and all Russian equipment and personnel were evacuated before the strike.

It's not clear if Putin passed the message along to Assad though. Clearly there were still Syrian planes and personnel still on site.

It may be that Putin is unhappy with Assad embarrassing him with these very public atrocities.

This is a must read.

It is vitally important to understand how the Federalist Society has weaponized the American judiciary to forward conservative movement ideology.

One big reason for voting for Republicans: Democrats just hate the idea of justices who enforce the Constitution.

@Lash,
Lash wrote:
So Trump approves spending a few million in a display of ...power? What was our goal? What did we achieve?

We don't like it when genocidal dictators use nerve gas on children.

Lash wrote:
It would be useless for me to talk about what I'd do without knowing what really happened in Syria. We'd have to agree on the infraction first,

Assad is committing genocide against the Syrian people and used nerve gas in a major attack.

Lash wrote:
Is this about Iran?

No.

Lash wrote:
Is it about an embattled president in another sectarian civil war gassing his opposition?

No. It is about a ruthless dictator committing genocide against his own people. And in this case using nerve gas to do it.

Lash wrote:
What makes my country arbiter of world behavior and the global janitor?

Reality does.

Lash wrote:
Btw, who's going to bomb us for all the murders around the world that we've committed?

No such murders.

Lash wrote:
Droned and bombed children are just as dead as gassed children.

There is a huge difference between "collateral damage from a lawful military strike" and "outright genocide against civilians".

Lash wrote:
Anyway, Obama bunted on Iran and left his mess for the next guy. I'm not sure how bad things are re Iran. Will they use nuclear capability to hit Israel? How close are they? Would they really use nukes? What strings are our allies pulling behind the scenes?

The nuclear deal with Iran will either succeed or fail. If it succeeds, then Iran will not develop nuclear weapons. If the deal fails, the world will need to smash Iran with crippling sanctions (much like is being done with North Korea) until they give up their illegal nuclear program.

Lash wrote:
Is this solely about the Russian pipeline? Let them have it. We should have moved to other energy sources already.

Pipeline nonsense is delusional gibberish.

Lash wrote:
If it was just gassing, I'd stay home and keep my money and soldiers home. Period. Let France or the UN handle it.

It is generally good to oppose genocide and/or the use of nerve gas against children.
