I was recently told off by someone on the far right (not on a2k) for being an enemy of the Second Amendment. I found that a bit amusing.
My position is that the government should start forming militias again and sell machine guns and bazookas to militiamen. Meanwhile the rest of the people should be free to buy weapons that are appropriate for self defense, as well as weapons that there is no actual reason for restricting.
This other guy wants machine guns and bazookas to be sold at Walmart to anyone without an age or background check.
An interesting subject that came up briefly in that same thread, though not long enough for the subject to be explored in depth, is what rights should police officers have under the Second Amendment. The modern concept of police did not exist when the Bill of Rights was drafted, so the Second Amendment didn't account for them.
If any far-leftists try to disarm their local police, I'd be in favor of the police being given the same right to "self defense/no reason for restrictions" weapons that all non-militiamen have, and the right to carry those weapons while on duty.
