Very few countries in the world would be able to emulate what New Zealand did and it will be interesting to see their economy a year from now.

What is MUCH MORE IMPORTANT is that there are very few countries in the world which would be willing to emulate what the United States has done with regard to the pandemic.

Under the leadership of Trump, his cowardly minions in the Congress...and his ignorant supporters...

...we suck like a black hole.

I'd though that the lockdown in New Zealand - like elsewhere - wasn't (and isn't) about economy.
So we'll see in year the infection rate there ...

Trump’s attacks on Fauci and other experts reinforce that he’d rather Americans be confused than concerned

Projection. Fauci contradicted himself so many times the confusion was already there. Attaching blame to Trump is old, tired, and is not working. It is the media that divides and confuses and wants people scared and miserable. More and more see that. That you do not is your problem.

The Moral Busybodies Strike Again

Quote:
“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive,” C.S. Lewis wrote. “It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

There is a message there. Busybodies will probably ignore it. Others will vote them out of power.

@coldjoint,
Fauci said at the time he made certain earlier statements that the situation may change. The situation changed and like a sensible human being changed his guidelines. Unlike Trump who thinks he can sweep it aside and pretend everything is normal.

@McGentrix,
Let me get this right, an American is criticising a German for not behaving more like New Zealand re Covid 19.

What are you going to do next, chide him for school shootings?

America’s Useful Idiots

Quote:
“Useful idiots” is a phrase attributed to Vladimir Lenin, who supposedly used it to describe communist sympathizers in Western Civilization.

It is a very appropriate descriptor when it comes to the so-called “woke” mob of the so-called “resistance” that has overtaken the streets of America. Well, let me rephrase that: They have overtaken the streets of major population centers in America. The infestation of wokeness and idiocy seems concentrated in the very places where progressive socialist policies have failed in America.

Why would that happen? Agitators and racebaiters is the answer. They are using the problems they, themselves, created to destroy this country.
Quote:
Consider the idiocy of a city in Colorado that is incarcerating people who do not wear a mask. Yet these same leftists claimed that criminals had to be released from incarceration due to the threat of COVID-19. Or consider the idiocy of going into the home of private citizens and confiscating their weapon, their right to keep and bear arms, for no apparent reason, other than they defended their property, safety, and security against the invasion of the “woke” mob -- the useful idiots.

Anyone feel like an idiot? I do not. Who else here who can say that?

Maybe he will chide you for your government covering up rapes of children by Islamists for over a decade, or maybe not. It did happen though, and those ruined lives are on the UK's heads.

Did Fauci get things wrong?

In February, Dr Fauci did not advise Americans change their behaviour due to the pandemic, but he did note the situation was evolving.

During an interview with the Today morning programme on 29 February, Dr Fauci said: "Although the risk is low now, you don't need to change anything you're doing, when you start to see community spread, this could change."

I have no idea (missing border infrastructure could be) but many didn't like that we closed the bordes to neighbour countries, especially those who worked in the neighbouring countries or had their relatives/partners living there.

Borders were reopened in mid-June. (France and Germany became the latest European countries to reopen their borders from its three-month Covid-19 lockdown.)

You do not need an expert to tell you what is just common sense. Apparently some people do.
