We saw plenty of people of all races being pepper-sprayed and shot with rubber bullets.

We saw people that needed to be pepper sprayed because of destruction of property, assaulting the police, and arson.

But that was a protest on the verge of turning into a violent mob;

Is that supposed to excuse the violence and put the blame on police? That is what it sounds like.

If we had better data we could look

We do have the data that says how uncommon these things are. 19unarmed white men were killed by police in 2019. 9 unarmed Black men.

Not individual acts of racism but centuries-old systemic discrimination which has relegated black citizens to 2nd class status. It was —

Our laws took care of that. We have equal justice but you refuse to apply it, at every level. You excuse law breakers over an media driven propaganda consensus. That is not equal justice, it is more like a privileged class that is above the law.

It makes a mockery of the ideals which supposedly guide this country.

No you are projecting and watching history destroyed because of police brutality. It is not being destroyed for that reason. It is being done for political purposes. That is a mockery of what this country stands for. Violence for political purpose is the definition of terrorism.

I'm not familiar with that genre at all. Are you?

I don't think I would use the word ' genre'.....a doomsday cult would be somewhat like the Heaven's Gate people, maybe even the Jim Jones "Jones Town" cult.......Fox 'News' didn't debut until 1996 so maybe you didn't have a TV before that, Jones Town mass directed suicide happened in 1978..........Actually the Heaven's Gate mass suicide (1997) was a UFO religious group...they might be the people referred to as 'alien worshippers'........I'm just taking a stab in the dark here, but I suspect Olivier might actually read newspapers and learned about the crazy pants stuff that way. Go figure.

That is not what you said.

Well...ecu-u-u-use me.

Since I had already written about BLM, "and groups that partner with them to fight racism and agitate for social justice", I figured that even the dumbest person, no matter his or her ideology, would recognize that, in the context, I was referring to police brutality that was racist, the sort of brutality that would motivate those groups to address it in the first place.

@hightor,
Most alleged racist police brutality is neither racist nor brutality.

Of the police brutality that is actually real, it is unlikely that any of it is racist.

Slave’s grave vandalized in UK city in apparent retaliation

Who here saw this sort of thing coming? Cool

Progressives should remember that it's all their fault. Don't go blaming any conservatives.

I'm a bit surprised that it happened in the UK instead of in the US South.

@roger,
True, apparently it is legal to shoot an unarmed suspect in the back who is running away. Who knew? We need better guidelines, reform and ordinances all the way around.

We need people raised in a family unit that are told not to break the law.

You mean the guy who pointed and fired a taser at a police officer?

Some twit here thinks that a taser gun was used on that murdering cop. Pretty hard for that to happen, as the cop had already fired the the two shot device twice already. Just another piece of misinformation from the twit.

Let alone if the twit had watched the video, he'd have seen the murdered suspect had dropped the taser about the fourth step away from the cops and never pointed it at anyone. He was trying not to be zapped anymore himself.

@bobsal u1553115,
What video did you watch? In the one I saw, the guy pointed the taser behind him and fired it, not hitting anyone. It was the second time the taser had been deployed, rendering it useless except for direct skin contact. When he fired the taser ( still facing away, running away) he was shot twice in the back.

@snood,
Yep. You're right. However at that point he was unarmed and did not need to be shot.

A top federal prosecutor has issued a statement saying he has not resigned, despite the US Justice Department announcing he was stepping down.

Geoffrey Berman, the US Attorney in Manhattan, said he learned he was "stepping down" in a press release issued by US Attorney-General William Barr on Friday evening.
Barr gave no reason for the move.
Berman has overseen the prosecution of a number of President Donald Trump's associates during his time in office.

Powerful US attorney who investigated Trump associates refuses to step down after Barr tries to push him out
Quote:
In an extraordinary statement, Berman said he learned of his exit from a press release.
"I have not resigned, and have no intention of resigning, my position, to which I was appointed by the Judges of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. I will step down when a presidentially appointed nominee is confirmed by the Senate," Berman said. "Until then, our investigations will move forward without delay or interruption."

@oralloy,
I think so, too, since Geoffrey Berman made a name for himself as a prosecutor in the areas of terrorism, financial crime and corruption. And that's exactly what's going to be a problem for him.
