The United States attorney’s office in Manhattan is perhaps the most famous federal prosecutor’s post in the country. The office, through Democratic and Republican administrations, has long prized a tradition of independence from the Justice Department and Washington. It has even been nicknamed the “Sovereign District of New York.”

Mr. Berman worked there in the 1990s as a prosecutor, but he took over the office under unusual circumstances.

A Republican who contributed to the president’s campaign and worked at the same law firm as Mr. Giuliani, Mr. Berman was never formally nominated for the position by Mr. Trump or confirmed by the Senate, as is normal protocol for United States attorneys.

In 2018, the attorney general at the time, Jeff Sessions, appointed Mr. Berman as interim United States attorney in Manhattan.

But Mr. Trump never formally sent Mr. Berman’s nomination to the Senate. After 120 days, his formal appointment to the post was made by the judges of the United States District Court.

Mr. Berman took note of the nature of his appointment to the position in explaining why he was refusing to step down.

“I was appointed by the judges of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York,” Mr. Berman said in his statement. “I will step down when a presidentially appointed nominee is confirmed by the Senate. Until then, our investigations will move forward without delay or interruption.”

Mr. Barr’s attempt to remove Mr. Berman came two days after excerpts released from Mr. Bolton’s upcoming book described what Mr. Bolton said was Mr. Trump’s willingness to intervene in criminal investigations, including one in Mr. Berman’s office.

Mr. Bolton wrote in the book that Mr. Trump in 2018 had promised the Turkish president, Mr. Erdogan, that he would interfere in an ongoing investigation against a Turkish company accused of violating Iranian sanctions.

“Trump then told Erdogan he would take care of things, explaining that the Southern District prosecutors were not his people, but were Obama people, a problem that would be fixed when they were replaced by his people,” Mr. Bolton wrote, according to an excerpt published this week in The Washington Post.

At the time, Mr. Berman was the U.S. attorney overseeing the case. The company, Halkbank, a state-owned bank in Turkey, was indicted in the Southern District last year.

The net is closing in. These are the actions of a desperate man.

Well, one thing he had to be desperate about is that if he loses in November, he will become vulnerable to lawsuits and actions against him that he is protected from as president. I think he’s acutely aware of that.

WASHINGTON — A federal judge on Saturday ruled that John R. Bolton, President Trump’s former national security adviser, can go forward with the publication of his memoir, rejecting the administration’s request for an order that he try to pull the book back and saying it was too late for such an order to succeed.

“With hundreds of thousands of copies around the globe — many in newsrooms — the damage is done. There is no restoring the status quo,” wrote Judge Royce C. Lamberth of the Federal District Court of the District of Columbia.

But in a 10-page opinion, Judge Lamberth also suggested that Mr. Bolton may be in serious jeopardy of forfeiting his $2 million advance, as the Justice Department has separately requested — and that he could be prosecuted for allowing the book to be published before receiving final notice that a prepublication review process to ensure it had no classified information was complete.

“Bolton has gambled with the national security of the United States,” Judge Lamberth wrote. “He has exposed his country to harm and himself to civil (and potentially criminal) liability. But these facts do not control the motion before the court. The government has failed to establish that an injunction will prevent irreparable harm.”

While he was president, Obama and his minions, anxious to finish the job, pulled all the scabs off what was a long healing wound and called us all racists, from a Black president mind you. Police killed nine Blacks total in 2019, while Blacks killed Blacks in the thousands, but never mind, police are not allowed to kill Blacks, only Blacks are. The Left will not allow healing. They need division so they encourage it.

People are waking up, beginning to feel their families and stuff being threatened. In America, you don’t mess with one’s family and stuff. They worked too hard to find some happiness in this troubled world. The Left thinks they are gaining the upper hand, using treason and insurrection at a time when no one seems to meet with justice. They have miscalculated.

While the insurgents burn cities, the Left hopes people will demand change that only they can deliver. Yes, the people will make demands, but not to their liking.

If the anemic response such as what we have seen from both Democrats and Republicans continues, vigilante justice will come and it will not be pleasant. The people will not cower, they will not cringe. They will do what no one else is willing to do.
