For some reason, God only knows what, but some damn reason, BLM aint out rioting over this, eh?

Quote:
Girls, 11 and 12, critically wounded in Saturday shootings less than 30 minutes apart

Two preteen girls were shot in the head Saturday night in separate incidents on the city’s South Side, within a period of 30 minutes.

Maybe because it's so rare that it doesn't even merit attention, eh? It's not like the armies of cops who are gunning black people down on sight, 24/7.

Just reading a George Lakoff piece. "George Lakoff is Richard and Rhoda Goldman Distinguished Professor of Cognitive Science and Linguistics at the University of California at Berkeley, where he has taught since 1972."

The portion here on "frames" is rather tricky and his passage ought to be fleshed out more (he does that elsewhere in his writing) but I've bolded the relevant point.
Quote:
Know the difference between framing and propaganda: Frames are mental structures used in thought; every thought uses frames. Every word in every language is defined relative to a mental structure — a frame. Frames, in themselves, are unavoidable and neutral. Honest framing is the use of frames you believe and that are used to express truths. Propaganda expresses lies that propagandists know are lies for the sake of political or social advantage.

@Finn dAbuzz,
If you were to find what I said clever or humerous then I would have indeed failed at the attempt. The fact that you can't even recognize the humerous way you conduct yourself is the greatest of ironies.

I will NEVER seek your approval on whatever cleverness I attempt. Thus far it seems I've succeeded, which delights my heart.

@blatham,
"Honest framing is the use of frames you believe and that are used to express truths."
===============

I'll suggest that,

Honest framing is the use of frames one honestly believes expresses a truth, but which, in time, may not be the truth at all. How it differs from propaganda, is that honesty will allow such an individual to accept other rational ideas and notions.

Chicago Cops Blame Gun Violence Spike on 'ACLU Effect'
Feb. 3, 2017

Every day seems to bring new tragedy on Chicago’s streets. Three people, including two 15-year-old boys, were murdered over the weekend, according to police, as 19 others were wounded in shootings.

According to a comprehensive new study by the University of Chicago Crime Lab, the city’s exclusive contract with the American Civil Liberties Union could be having a significant impact on Chicago’s crime.

“This is one of the few dramatic changes where the timing does fit the increase in homicides and so it seems it would be rash to reflectively rule this out as a possibility,” said Dr. Jens Ludwig, the director of the University of Chicago’s Crime Lab.

As the ACLU requirements were rolled out in 2016, police stops plummeted by over 80 percent, according to police. Angelo said officers feared being labeled racist or losing their job.

Hovering over Chicago’s latest struggles was a Department of Justice investigation into the Chicago Police Department that painted the department as racist and in need of better training and oversight.

The ACLU says the drop in police stops is a victory for minorities.

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2017/02/06/politics-policing-making-chicago-crime-wave-worse.html

Murders in Chicago have increased by 66% since this agreement was implemented.

As one prominent black man (forget who, just now) begged: "Please stop helping us!"

The ACLU, like the cheese-eaters celebrating the fact that many more Syrians, Iranians, etc. are coming here due to their activist judges, calls this a "victory."

The only good news seems to be that Trump, who may be crazy, but at least he aint suicidal like the wack-ass left, is now runnin the DOJ. He can cancel this terrible "deal," which was pushed through by Loretta Lynch.

@layman,
Trump simply stopping this doesn't mean that the end result will be satisfactory for anyone, least of all minorities. Racism is, and has always been endemic to the US.

Just as Lincoln's phony emancipation didn't change things, just as separate but equal didn't change things, just as Brown v Board of Education didn't change things, just as all the civil rights acts didn't change things, more band aids won't change things.

This Johnny Lang number from years ago is just so damn good. I think it should be THE theme song played at all rallies preceding Trump's entry onto the stage. Supporters would go wild.

Ummmmm, that's one of the things that got German and Japanese war criminals hung.

At what US torture site around the world would you suggest the gallows should operate for US war criminals?

@blatham,
Lakoff, the partisan hack, eh? Who woulda guessed that you would try to cite him as some kinda objective authority, eh?

Quote:
Remember: We’re the POWERFUL American Majority. No more helpless/hopeless talk. Anger, fear and cynicism benefit Trump’s GOP. Remember: Don’t think of an elephant! Don’t use Republican language, or repeat their positions, even to negate them. Frame using ideas you believe and real facts that are contextualized and morally framed.

A straight-up cheese-eater, sho nuff.

I'll give him credit for being right about one thing, though, to wit: "Anger, fear and cynicism benefit Trump’s GOP. "

Carry on, cheese-eaters.
