@coldjoint,
Quote:
Have you asked Bill Clinton?

You mean the Bill Clinton who had a student deferment because he was actually a student? As opposed to Cadet Bonespurs? I had bone spurs and still do. I couldn't march but I did enlist in the Navy. Maybe Trump got seasick. He didn't get rejected with bone spurs, he asked for a deferment. Those bone spurs sure don't seem to interfere with his golf game, his natural inability to swing does that. Bone spurs don't interfere with his ability to spout nonsense at two hour plus pressers every day.

You mean Bill Clinton the Rhodes scholar who never claimed to be a genius or a military man. That Bill Clinton? The guy who had eight years of a growing economy who got people off welfare, made a lot of Republican rich, who paid off the deficit? That Bill Clinton?

No, Poison Control Calls Aren't Suddenly Spiking After Trump's Disinfectant Comments

Another try at fake news.
Quote:
Calls to U.S. poison control centers are up. They have been since March.

Quote:
The problem? Articles shared as illustrations of this actually said no such thing.

One article making the rounds, from the New York Daily News, is headlined "A spike in New Yorkers ingesting household cleaners following Trump's controversial coronavirus comments." But the article makes no mention of anyone deliberately consuming household cleaners. It simply states that 30 people called the city's poison control hotline "over fears that they had ingested bleach or other household cleaners."

Fearing that you ingested something doesn't jibe with having intentionally consumed that substance.

The authors of the Daily News piece, Anna Sanders and Chris Sommerfeldt, try to circumvent this inconvenient fact by noting that over the same time period in 2019, the Poison Control Center "only handled 13 similar cases." And while this time, nine calls were about possible Lysol exposure and ten about bleach, last year's calls contained "no cases reported about Lysol exposure and only two were specifically in regards to bleach."

The paper doesn't present any other data about calls to Poison Control for comparison. But one needn't do a detailed analysis to surmise why exposure to things like Lysol and bleach—and fears about this exposure—might be up this month over April 2019. And one needn't reach for the ridiculous explanation that it's because people deliberately consumed it en masse after listening to Trump. We are in the midst of a pandemic right now and we were not in April 2019. Of course more people are being exposed to household disinfectants at the moment than were during this time last year.

Maybe not a patient, but he's seen a lot of other Doctor's patients. He's a nationaly respected Immunologist and Epidemiologist not a general practitioner,

Here's Dr Fauci's bonfides:

an American physician and immunologist who has served as the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) since 1984. Since January 2020, he has been one of the lead members of the Trump Administration's White House Coronavirus Task Force addressing the 2019–20 coronavirus pandemic in the United States. Fauci is widely seen to be one of the most trusted medical figures in the country.[1][2]

Fauci is widely recognized as one of the world's leading experts on infectious diseases.[3][4] As a physician with the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Fauci has served American public health in various capacities for over 50 years, and has been an advisor to every U.S. president since Ronald Reagan.[3] He has made contributions to HIV/AIDS research and other immunodeficiencies, both as a scientist and as the head of the NIAID at the NIH.

College of the Holy Cross (BA)
Cornell University (MD)

Awards
Maxwell Finland Award (1989)
Ernst Jung Prize (1995)
Lasker Award (2007)
Medal of Freedom (2008)
Robert Koch Prize (Gold, 2013)

Scientific career
Immunology

Institutions
National Institutes of Health, National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases

In 1968, Fauci joined the National Institutes of Health (NIH) as a clinical associate in the Laboratory of Clinical Investigation (LCI) at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.[10] In 1974, he became Head of the Clinical Physiology Section, LCI, and in 1980 was appointed Chief of the Laboratory of Immunoregulation. In 1984, he became director of NIAID, a position he still holds as of 2020.[4] In that role he has the responsibility for an extensive research portfolio of basic and applied research on infectious and immune-mediated illnesses.[10] He has turned down several offers to lead his agency's parent, the NIH, and has been at the forefront of U.S. efforts to contend with viral diseases like HIV, SARS, the 2009 swine flu pandemic, MERS, Ebola and COVID-19.[11]

He played a significant role in the early 2000s in creating the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief[12] and in driving development of biodefense drugs and vaccines following the 9/11 terrorist attacks.[13]

Fauci has been a visiting professor at many medical centers, and has received 30 honorary doctorates from universities in the U.S. and abroad.[14]

Medical achievements

Fauci has made important scientific observations that contributed to the understanding of regulation of the human immune response, and is recognized for delineating the mechanisms whereby immunosuppressive agents adapt to that response. He developed therapies for formerly fatal diseases such as polyarteritis nodosa, granulomatosis with polyangiitis, and lymphomatoid granulomatosis. In a 1985 Stanford University Arthritis Center Survey of the American Rheumatism Association, membership ranked Fauci's work on the treatment of polyarteritis nodosa and granulomatosis with polyangiitis as one of the most important advances in patient management in rheumatology over the previous 20 years.[15][16]

Fauci has contributed to the understanding of how HIV destroys the body's defenses leading to the progression to AIDS. He has outlined the mechanisms of induction of HIV expression by endogenous cytokines.[16] Fauci has worked to develop strategies for the therapy and immune reconstitution of patients with the disease, as well as for a vaccine to prevent HIV infection. His current research is concentrated on identifying the nature of the immunopathogenic mechanisms of HIV infection and the scope of the body's immune responses to HIV.

In 2003, the Institute for Scientific Information stated that from 1983 to 2002, "Fauci was the 13th most-cited scientist among the 2.5 to 3 million authors in all disciplines throughout the world who published articles in scientific journals".[9]

Fauci is a member of the National Academy of Sciences, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the National Academy of Medicine, the American Philosophical Society, and the Royal Danish Academy of Sciences and Letters, as well as other numerous professional societies including the American Society for Clinical Investigation, the Infectious Diseases Society of America, and the American Association of Immunologists. He serves on the editorial boards of many scientific journals; as an editor of Harrison's Principles of Internal Medicine; and as author, coauthor, or editor of more than 1,000 scientific publications, including several textbooks.[14]

Now, what are the qualifications of your ER doc? Why did't Trump hire him instead of Dr Fauci?

EVERY President starting with St Ronnie hired him.

The article clearly states no one is ingesting it intentionally. Why do you worry about science when you do not understand English?

HUGE: Gen. Mike Flynn Requests to Withdraw Guilty Plea

Quote:
General Michael Flynn is requesting to withdraw his guilty plea in new court documents the former National Security Advisor and three-star general tweeted on Friday.

Flynn claims that he was railroaded by his lawyers into pleading guilty to lying to the FBI, despite always believing that he was innocent of the charges the federal law enforcement agency is accusing him of. He’s describing reiterating language regarding his communications with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak suggested by his then-lawyers, which was later pounced upon by aggressive federal agents eager to catch the Trump administration official in a lie.

This will expose the Deep State. It seems he has the right to withdraw his plea.

Dr. Erickson's entitled to his opinions but when it comes to a pandemic, I'll take the word of a celebrated immunologist over that of an osteopath any day. Dumping on Dr. Fauci has become a cottage industry among the right-wing and anyone who questions his qualifications or medical judgment is sure to get publicity.

Here's a radio interview questioning Erickson's conclusions:

Dr. Brij Bhambi calls out “selection bias” to question Accelerated doctors

Here's the response from Kern County Public Health:

Kern Public Health responds to doctors who say county should reopen immediately
Quote:
BAKERSFIELD, CAlif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Kern County Public Health taking time Thursday morning at a press conference to respond to statements made Wednesday by two doctors at Accelerated Urgent Care.

“I’ve talked to our local head of health department, and he’s waiting for that. Even though they’re in agreement with me, they’re waiting for the powers that be to lift," Dr. Dan Erickson, of Accelerated Urgent Care, said.

Among the topics addressed was the claim by the two physicians, Doctors Dan Erickson and Artin Massihi- who are also the owners of Accelerated Urgent Care- that the director of Kern Public Health, Matt Constantine, was in agreement with their statements to re-open Kern County.

“The doctor at Accelerated has spoken with our director. Our director has not concurred with the statements that were made yesterday about the need to re-open at this time," Michelle Corson, Public Information Officer for Kern County Public Health, said.

Public Health says that in order to flatten the curve and get the county moving again, maintaining social distancing for the time being is essential.

And when asked if the doctors’ remarks endanger the greater public health, Corson said they’re following the advice of the country’s best experts.

“There are top medical minds in our state, in our county, in our nation that are providing this guidance to us. And we concur that these are actions that we should be taking right now and we are steadfast in our recommendation to our community to continue this," Corson said.

That’s not to say that they don’t understand the frustration among many.

But in order to get businesses moving again as quickly as possible, Public Health says staying at home a little while longer is the best way to achieve that goal.

@glitterbag,
Watch out. My first suspension here came over him complaining I offered him the same thing and in even simpler terms: "ignore me and I will ignore you."

I will give him his dues as a brinksman. He's definitely one of the best.
